92-now is Don Panoz. He owns the track and has paid for all improvements.

Hello, Paul,
Actually, there were interim steps.

Cone promoted the race from 91-96.
In 1997, Andy Evans was the promoter
In 1998, Don Panoz came aboard.

Here is what Mike Cone has been up to...

TAMPA -- Once-prominent Tampa road builder Michael Cone received a maximum 15-year federal prison sentence today after pleading guilty to hiding assets during his company's bankruptcy proceedings.

Cone, 51, former president of Cone Constructors, is already serving a five-year state prison sentence after a jury convicted him in February of an organized scheme to defraud the Florida Department of Transportation. U.S. District Judge Susan C. Bucklew ordered that Cone serve his federal sentence after he completes his state prison time, potentially keeping him behind bars for the next 20 years.

The whole story:

Perhaps does anybody know what Andy Evans is doing now? He won the Sebring 12 hours 1995 and 1997 driving the great Ferrari 333 SP. I have not heard from him since then.

I'm a little bit puzzled by your latest postings.

You don't react to responses to your requests and you don't seem to google before you ask.

But maybe that is just a misleading impression...

For anyone interested in the career of Andrew Evans, in 200i "Red Herring" magazine, a business/technology publication, published a lengthy story titled "Andrew Evans Blows His Second Chance." It doesn't touch on those whose racing careers he damaged, rather his business and business practices, but it's a fascinating if lenghy read: Red Herring

The story references Mr. Evans' conviction for bank fraud in the 1980s, and his pyramid of companies which is the heart of the story explains many of the sponsors on the Evans-owned Scandia Racing 333 SPs (chassis numbers 003 and 010 for the historians).

Clicking on that gets the headline, "Andy-Evans.net, Famous Racing Driver"

Bit of a stretch, that.
