Your link doesn't seem to work, for me at least. However, copying and pasting the link into a browser will work.

I was waiting for someone to post about that. I saw it on SpeedTV and I commented to my wife that Ron Dennis is going to catch some flak over that comment.

I don't think he meant it in in any way to be hurtful toward Robert Kubitsa - but it was a poor attempt at humor and he did clarify that it was only a joke.

No more hurtful, I think, than the repeated comments about DC's head, Ronspeak, the "Many Moods of Kimi" poster, etc.

For those of you wondering and too lazy to watch the video - Ron Dennis was being interviewed on the grid by Peter Windsor and Windsor asked him if BMW's program to get Kubitsa to drop about 10Kg was something that McLaren would be interested in. Ron replied "Well, he could lose a lot more weight if he had his nose done."

Personally, I am thinking another $100,000,000 fine for McLaren and new FIA program called AnyNose.

Typical Ron Dennis type of humor, of the same kind as "premature ejaculation" and "Ronald McDonald" pieces. A bit childish, but this childishness keeps him from more trouble. For example he could have said something like: "Our drivers are so fit and light that to lose some more weight we would need to send them to concentration camp", which in current state of F1 affairs would have caused an uproar

Actually, Prost's nose was used as a turning vane. Approaching a left turn, he would lift the visor on his helmet and the aerodynamic forces hitting his (previously broken) nose would turn the car left from the center of the McLaren chassis. It was so effective that Ron suggested it be broken again and reset straight to it could be a movable turning vane.

It can be revealed, many years later, that Ferrari protested this and the FIA put in some rules.

A joke at the expense of someone elses facial features, fair enough.

But when the joke is on Dennis, like in that red bull magazine last season, it suddenly isnt so funny. Dennis ordered reporters who where reading that mag in his motorhome to leave or throw it away.

Bit poor and sad really. Thought he was a bigger man than that, especially after the kubica comment.

Then again for me he always employs double standards.

Nick Heidfelds drawing of Bobo consisted of two parts(some) hair and nose. I don't recall anyone getting up in arms about that.

You are quite right - I'd forgotten that but now that you remind me, I recall thinking at the time that Nick's drawing wasn't funny.

It's not a big deal... but the joke was poor, lacked wit and was a little unnecessarily rude. Ron found it hilarious himself though, simple things...

As for Lewis drumming Haug's tummy, we get it. He is a fun young guy who just isn't fazed by anything! Do we have to see these cringing scenes played out with McLaren team members every race weekend... Look he's wearing over sized comedy sunglasses! What a hoot!

Well I live in a country, where people wish they had big noses, because the native people here generally have flat noses. Big noses are considered beautiful. So what? Some jokes just don't work.

Not a Dennis fan at all, but it's good someone saying something that's not fitting into the usual corporate speak.
