Request on behalf of a friend -does anyone know a good pub to watch moto gp in in London? He's tried the sports cafe but couldn't concentrate due to all the other things on at the same time. Cheers.

Any recommendations for sports bars in Boston, MA for the Indy 500? I'll be streaming the F1 from my hotel room WiFi in the morning then hopefully heading into the city for the 500'.

Does anyone know if there's somewhere in Reims where we might get to watch the race? Preferably (but not necessarily) with booze...

any idea for a pub with a tv showing the belgian gp in the city center of cluj-napoca (a.k.a. kolozsvár), near the square with rhe temple and the Mathias statue? last year I searched the area and found nothing, this year I want to arrive prepared. also I wouldn't mind if it was in hungarian, but that is just a bonus thing. :)

Need to be in Munich this weekend. Several years ago I used to watch the races in an Irish Bar near the centre. It was right next to an Australian bar which co-habited in a kind of basement set-up. Very good atmosphere but cant remember the name/street. Anyone help? If not, an alternative? Ta.

Hey SlickMick

There are 3 bars I know of in the center of town that show F1

Molly Malone, Kennedys, and the place YOU recalled- Killians, which is twinned with Ned Kelly's

The address of your place is..

Frauenplatz 11
Nearest S/U-Bahn: Marienplatz
Tel. 089 24219910

Viel Erfolg

Many thanks as always JP.

Not on tour - just in town for a few months for work. I travel.... a lot!

Hopefully O'Leary's has very large screens - watching footy match in the pub at lunchtime, followed by a few hours chilling in Christiania, then back to pub for f1 - I will be a mess. Hahaha, can't wait!

You tour yourself? You should let us all know the score - might get a few more fans!

Cheers mate, gorra go, my Elephant Beer awaits :-)

Edit: forgot to mention... after pub smoke pub, meeting up with clients for dinner -heeheehee.

Edit 2 : the large breasted blond sitting next to me doesn't understand why f1 is more important than her. btw, I'm sloshed already.

I am in Singapore during the weekend (and next week) - anyone know where to watch the race there? Either in a 24 h open bar or on TV at the hotel (which channel?)?

Hello Henke 1972.

I love the Swissotel overlooking turn 9. They have a roof top bar that is open 24hrs.

As far as a sports bar I always went to muddymurphys but it's a little ways out of the city center.

I believe the race is broadcast on Fox Sports Asia (the old STAR Sports channel)

Hope this helps.

I'll be having a 1 night stopover at JFK, between flights, while the Chinese GP quali is on.  I think it's likely to be showing at around midnight, local time (April 10th-11th), so I'd prefer to watch it in the hotel. Does anyone know what hotels are likely to have the nbcsports channel in their rooms?

Ditto the race itself, the next day. I'll be in downtown San Francisco, and I'm guessing the race will kick off at about 9pm local time on the 11th. My preference would be to watch it in my hotel room, but if not a bar would do.

Perhaps I need to contact the major hotel chains and ask if they have that channel...?

I would email the sales department at the hotels you are looking at.

SF might be a bit more difficult but as a rule the higher end hotels have the better TV packages.

Both cities have F1 fan Facebook pages now.

NYC F1 Fans  https://www.facebook...ps/formula1nyc/

SFF1 Fans    https://www.facebook.com/SFFormula1

Good luck and tell us you findings.

Thanks jonpollak. I'll check out those FB groups.

So far, the Marriott chain have confirmed that they have NBC sports channel in their rooms at both the Fairfield Inn and Courtyard by Marriott, at JFK.  The Hilton chain (Hampton Inn and Hilton) don't. So I'll book into one of the Marriotts for quali.

I've requested information from a few chains in San Francisco and will let you know what I've found. But given the timing of the race itself (once I'm on the west coast) I can probably find a bar if I can't watch it in my room.

So far Kimpton are the only chain who've responded about TV channels in SF, saying that their Monaco and Palomar hotels have NBC Sports. I'll keep pushing the other stubbornly-silent chains.

Hyatt Regency at the Embarcadero have also confirmed that they have it in their rooms. There's been no reply at all from their central office, so I don't know if all Hyatt's have it.

So while it looks like the Marriott, Kimpton and Hyatt chains have NBC Sports, and Hilton doesn't, I'd recommend checking with the individual hotel before booking if it's an important part of your stay.

Yes, me too! A taxi driver recommended them to me back in the 80's when I ended up stranded in SF (such a hardship!). They're a great chain, so I hope their recent takeover/merger with IHG (Intercontinental) doesn't change them too much.

So, next question. South Africa? Do most hotels and guest houses offer DSTV? Or is it a case of contacting them independently?

IHG have confirmed that at least 2 of their 3 hotels at JFK have the NBC Sports channel, but haven't said which! I'll confirm by phone, but it looks like it might be the Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn Express.

I think quali (for the Chinese GP) will be between 3am and 4am in NY. We have to leave the hotel at 4.30am anyway so it sounds like we'll be eating cold pizza for breakfast (no room service) while watching quali :)

Is this still the case? Same situation as the original question, I'll be in Agadir for Melbourne.

Would be great if someone could confirm,

Are there any hotels in Frankfurt, Germany near the airport that would have the Australia race? Either on the room TVs or playing down at the bar? Bear in mind it's at 0500 (I think). Any recommendations?

Hotels near Frankfurt Flughafen are all fairly stuffy and not at all accommodating..

I remember once when we arrived with about 30 people at the Sheraton and they made us wait outside !?!?!

The rooms will surely have RTL but German SKY F1 ?..highly doubtfull .

Race starts at 6 CET

I'd been having a bit of difficulty finding out which channel its on, there are plenty of sports bars about but they seem to love Baseball and Basketball out here.

Indian quarter - I've watched many football matches there - beer very very cheap compared to anywhere else I've been in Singapore. But you cannot watch the Oz GP there because it will be daylight, and you really wouldn't want to be seen dead there by anybody.
This not too expensive/Singapore thing might even stump Jp.

Rooftop Bar at the Swissotel? Did you not spot the "not too expensive bit"?
What if there's a few safety cars, young Ron will need to interrupt his supping to go and get a bank loan.
Mmmmmm.... I think this one's still open me old mucker.

I asked my wife this one as she's been there.

JJ's seems to be the place people go to for, as she called it, 'sport things'

Antena 3 has the contract these days and most places in the Balearics get that channel.

I know that this is a massive longshot...

But I don't suppose anyone knows whether there'd be anywhere to watch this weekend's early race in Bruges? From what I've been able to work out, three's no Free to Air F1 in Belgium and I'm guessing that I won't be able to fire up the iPlayer when I'm out of the country, so it would be nice to find somewhere that's showing it!

Go to the central square called Burg.

It's in between Philipstockstraat and Hoogstraat

That's where you'll find the only places in town that would show it.

Good luck oh bearded one.

Update:

Quali: the Crowne Plaza JFK had a HUGE television in the room with the correct sports channel. Despite the ads I found NBC's coverage to be informed and entertaining, although the absence of female presenters was striking. During the ads we listened to the commentary on the F1 timing app to keep in touch with what was happening. I think the coverage started at around 3am - we ate cold pizza for breakfast, and the show ended just in time for us to leave for the airport.

Race: in San Francisco we had a decent sized TV at the Hyatt Regency, again with NBC sports. We tried to use a NowTV pass via VPN to fill in the ad-gaps but it was too slow (in the past I've been successful with the BBC coverage in CA). So we used the app again for radio commentary.

It made me appreciate our ad-free TV coverage, but it was good to watch a TV station that's perfectly synchronised with the racing action, unlike our experience of NowTV's Sky in the UK.

Is there anywhere in the Dijon area to watch the Bahrain race this weekend?  We are actually staying in Bussière-sur-Ouche just west of Dijon, but Dijon seems like an easy drive from there.

Thanks!
