There is so much there I want/need, but a wallet that doesn't allow it! Lot 126 puzzles me, 301mph at Daytona!!??

Apart from seeing so much I'd like to own, but can't, it's just so pleasing to see that, up until the sale, this stuff was owned, looked after and kept, mainly in original "nick", by people who obviously knew what they had. Also makes you wonder what else is sitting in houses and garages up and down the country!!

Yes, indeed; and if you visit Daytona USA, they'll tell you it did 330 mph on the beach!

Just a query really

Someone mentioned to me at the Revival last weekend that they got in ( to the Revival) by buying the Bonhams catalogue for IIRC £25 which then gave them, in effect, cheaper entry than the official price - it was also suggested that this ruse works at other places. Is this a known loophole?
Can anyone confirm this?

This "Benz" seems to be a Chinese copy of a copy.
The weasel he say "it is patterned after the series sanctioned by Daimler-Benz and built by John Bentley" - "patterned after" forsooth! What sort of language is that and more to the point how is that object worth $60,000-$80,000 US?

Sold for £109,000! That's the kind of price I thought it would get AFTER restoration! The estimate before the auction was £20k=£25k, and I seriously thought about travelling up and making a bid as the estimated price was (marginally) what I could afford.

There's something ironic about that.

Knowing that TNF people like quirky stories. S1 was the very first Edinburgh car registration. It was taken up by an Edinburgh car dealership and used on their demonstrator. Some time later Edinburgh Corporation approached the dealer and politely asked if they could have the registration number to put on to the Lord Provost of Edinburgh's official car. The dealer refused and so the Corporation created their own number S0 ( Zero) which was technically illegal as you were not supposed to have a single digit zero but as far as I am aware it is still used on the Lord Provosts car. Ironically the same thing happened in Glasgow and they had G0 because G1 had also been taken up by a dealer and at one time the number was used by Sir Hugh Fraser who was owner of Harrods - and the dealership.
