I don't know, Jason...

Would you want to be at the fence? You have a real grandstand view there, good shots. Anything of Clubmans?

A single photo of a V in my photo collection, taken at Pukekohe during the mid to late 60s. The caption in my photo album says the car is "A Godfrey's". Not sure that throws much light on the subject but it's a pretty nice looking V.

No clubmans at Amaroo sorry Ray, but I have these two, one of my father at Silverdale in his Nota and one of Rob Medcalf's Robin in need of some repair after a King Edward Park Hillclimb mishap.

I have looked at ypur old photoson your web site.
They bring back a lot of memories.
I was a very part time pit crew, more accurately a tyre cleaner, for Bob Sanderson.
It is the car #30 for sale at the Vee exhibition. My wife did his signs for the show.
Does any body know where this Nimbus is now.
I would like very much to find it.
Sando was friends with John Smith. The car carried Phillips Exsaust System livery.
I think it may have gone to QLD but not sure.

Did Bob sell it to Louise Roy or were they just similar colour schemes? If so, see posts #276, 277 & 364.

Thanks to everyone who visited my web site and added information on many of the Vee photos and driver portraits, I wish I had taken more notes at the time! I am currently archiving photos which I took at the Tasman Formula 1 race at Warwick Farm including Jim Clark, Graham Hill, Denny Hulme and others, I will let you know when they are uploaded.

I have finally finished scanning all my Formula Vee material, though I keep coming across the the odd neg or slide so maybe I haven't! I have uploaded them to my Facebook page - http://www.facebook....448461?v=photos.
I came across some photos that I took when I visited Warwick Farm in 1967 or 68, they are not great shots but they may be of interest so I have included them. Regards Bryan Henderson

Thanks for that Bruce, I finally got a daughter to get me into facebook for a look. Mostly past my time but a few of the photos refer to me in guest drives of the Accurate Engines Vee, I am pretty sure I'm only driving in one (Damon cutting me off!), The other white full-face driver is probably Simon Gilbert and the red helmet and driving suit, the owner after Simon. I was overseas when the car changed hands and don't know the story nor who he sold it to. Simon also owned an NG for a brief period (possibly ex Denis Watts?) which he sold to the owner, or franchise holder, of Pram City.

I will be contacting Bryan soon to have those 70s Amaroo videos transferred to DVD for anyone who is interested

Would love to see any videos from the 70's of Vees and Sports cars, I have nothing of my Lotus 23b or the Matich 1977 to 1979 if anyone has photos or videos

Bryan, would love to look at your pics but I cannot join facebook...

They demand a birth date, I'm not giving mine (purely for privacy reasons) and if I give a false one I have to remember it. Which I won't. Therefore, facebook is out of bounds for me, this might also apply to others.

Come on Ray time to join the current times, surely you can think up a date of significance to use, Bryan & others have put some fantastic shots up on the Historic Vee Facebook page http://www.facebook....3...photos&so=0

Michael St John Cox was the Pram City guy. The old man worked there and they sponsored me through a major part of the eighties. He started with the ex Paul Mcdonald Nimbus then bought the car Keith Poole won the nationals at Oran Park in the early eighties off Graham Benson.
A guy turned up here a few years back called Peter Moore. He said he'd raced in the UK when Bob Muir was over there but ran out of money. He said that when he returned he bought an NG off you and raced for a few years until he crashed it. He got married, had kids, bought house but still had the NG tucked away minus pedals. He'd heard about historic vees through Don Holland. Not sure how much this helps the mystery.

That's my NG, nothing to do with Simon's NG. I've probably got the story of Simon's cars muddled so I'll try to contact him to get some details. You don't think it's St John Cox in the red?

I'll have to look. I know that the Poole car was a dark red or maroon and I think Graham Benson kept the colour for a while at least but can't remember if or when he may have changed it. Michael may have run a meeting in the red but I can only remember the yellow with the blue stripe of Pram City. I'll try to compare helmets between when he had the Nimbus to the red car.
I always thought the car that John Psaltis owned had something to do with you but when I spoke to Peter Moore it got more confusing. Psaltis bought it off someone in about 1981, it was blue when he got it.

I have just uploaded some time sheets, results and grid placing that I had for 1974-76 so the truth can now be seen as to how quick we all were! I also put up the 7 pages from my Rennmax log book in case it is of interest to someone, I see that it was initially registered by GS Motor Bodies of Hurstville, who was racing it?
Once again you can get see them at http://www.facebook....ix/141029448461 and you do not have to be registered for Facebook, it's a public site. I have also arranged to let John Fab have a copy of everything so that his archives will be even further enhanced. Bryan Henderson

And Steve Normoyle has uploaded a stack more pictures from the Chevron Publishing / Racing Car News archives - some brilliant stuff in them, too.

Even the MJM (I think) at Catalina!

Keith Angel was in that scrum at Oran Park, wasn't he?

Just remembered the name, a big bloke you wouldn't reckon would fit into a Vee...

And is that Enno Buesselmann leading at Amaroo, Damon the inevitable attacker?

I'm glad you kept some programmes.

Mine went bush over the years; I only have a sad tattered old thing from Oran Park Dec 14th 1968,
& being a night meeting I wasn't taking pictures.

The list of names brings back memories.

Thanks

hi ..... First time on the forum.... I saw the scanned Warwick Farm entry list on page 9, and saw my entry at no.7 Quartly Vee. Dont remember that meeting at the Farm but I do remember what must must have been the previous meeting there when Damon Beck was still in what became Denis Rileys Rennmax. All the names I've seen on the forum today , Steve Weissner, Paul Bernasconi, Mauri Miller, Eno Bussellman , Laurie Campfield , Jim Evans, Geoff Stone (sorry for the spelling errors) bring back so many memories of great days from the early 70's.

I have a couple of black and white scanned images from Amaroo which I'll try to figure out how to upload.

Regards to you all ... Paul McCurdy

The number 7 Mako is an interesting one. By the different body shape it seems it was owned by Terry Smith in the early eighties. Earlier on going by Bryan henderson's photos it seems it was owned by Max Coulter. Talking to Frank Kleinig the other day he said he was trying to find the Coulter car as it was supposedly 'old whitey' which was the car that he built for Bob Muir to drive.

Yes I'm not certain about Mako No.7.... I raced the Quartly Vee from about '71 to '73 and that pic would be early on in that period.

Below is a url to FVee entry list from the '73 Bathurst meeting program:

The RCN June '73 lists the results as Race 1(3 Laps): 1.Laurie Campfield (Elfin) 9:14.4 (3:01.6);2.Gary Dubois (Trips) 9:15.7 (3:03.6); 3. Colin Merz (Mako) 9:15.9 (3:03.6)
Race 2(6 Laps): Gary Dubois (Trips) 18:14.6 (3:00.2) :2. Alan Simpson(Manta) 18:15.0 (3:01.3); 3. Steve Weissner (Revell) 18:16.6 (3:00.9)

The RCN June '73 lists the results as Race 1(3 Laps): 1.Laurie Campfield (Elfin) 9:14.4 (3:01.6);2.Gary Dubois (Trips) 9:15.7 (3:03.6); 3. Colin Merz (Mako) 9:15.9 (3:03.6)
Race 2(6 Laps): Gary Dubois (Trips) 18:14.6 (3:00.2) :2. Alan Simpson(Manta) 18:15.0 (3:01.3); 3. Steve Weissner (Revell) 18:16.6 (3:00.9)

The Quartly Vee is another one with a story. Frank K was telling me about the practice in those days of cars starting life as Makos and have some extra bar work added and being renamed like the Quartly. Frank said in the late 70's things came to a head with CAMS asking Frank is he ever built the Quartly as a Quartly or a Mako. He obviously said Mako and so the car was supposedly renamed a Mako again. If that sort of stuff went on I sympathise with those trying to track down cars. I know Gary Quartly (Terry's nephew) was trying to track down the Quartly a few years back. I doubt he knows of it's double life.

The Bardahl and Moxon Vees were in this group. Bernie Haehnle renamed the Rennmax he bought from Ken Goodwin the Hahn-Rennmax (when it was orginally a CB Vee anyway).

Yeah, it must be a right mongrel of a job to keep track!

And where's the Hahn-Rennmax now anyway?

...I always thought the car that John Psaltis owned had something to do with you ...

I managed to get in contact with Simon Gilbert and while he is not certain he believes he purchased his NG from Dennis Watts and sold it to John Psaltis (Simon had painted it a bark blue). Adding to that, Dennis lent it to me a few time when mine was being straightened and I once set fastest lap in a wet race (a personal career highlight as I was hopeless in the wet) and I was raving on what a brilliant car it was, but as I stated earlier I was overseas when Simon purchased the car.

Regarding his Elfin500 (possibly Mallmark, read on) he purchased it from an owner in VIC who only had a couple of outings but it was a Championship winning car prior to that - could it have been Dave Turnbull's 1975 National car? Simon has no idea who he sold it to so I don't know where I got the Pram City connection from, sorry.
