Just a question......how many of you here have done anything towards the 50th? Instead of taking the P out of John's obvious lack of spelling skills, you may want to consider what he HAS achieved. I am sorry now that I put up the list, only did so for your interest. Pretty poor guys. ): BTW no one else has seen the need to correct, the list has been on FB for quite some time

Greg, since I appear to have started this kerfuffle, just to let you know, I did not intend to extract urine in any way...farthest thing from my mind. It was all about my Bernasconi connection and a light bulb moment.

Hoping that the 50th is a great success...Cheers, Mick

Sorry if I appeared to over react, but I hope you understand given the history John has gone through we should be really grateful he still has the enthusiasm to jump in where he can...I am certain that the 50th will be a great weekend, and that will be in no small part through John's & others efforts!!

It is fantastic to think that we all share the enthusiasm even after ALL this time!  And yes I too am looking forward to meeting up with old friends & foes...

Merry Christmas to everyone, I trust 2015 brings everything we wish for

My only regret is that I can't be there...

Some of those names are of people who became good friends of mine. John, Denis, Dick and Graham especially, while I have also kept in touch with Damon these past difficult years. Brian Sutton wasn't on the list, is he another 'can't be there'? Has Greg Cusack been confirmed? Stevie Normoyle?

I don't recall whether it was on TNF or maybe another forum, but about 12 or 13 years ago an all-Vee event was proposed in Queensland. Come to think of it, it may have been before Lakeside closed. Anyway, they were thinking of having an all-openwheeler meeting and I was all for it, but the naysayers said it wouldn't work.

Build it and they will come, I say...

Ray every day a few more name come up like Brian's, the list is a work in progress so to speak and growing daily. One major problem is contacts for people. John has 'shouted ' out on many sites or forums as well as placing an ad in the paper trying to get to as many ears as possible, some old contacts though are dead links. If anyone knows of someone who may be interested please let them know of the Facebook page which has the e mail contact.

While this does not concern me really PLEASE remember a lot of these people are not and probably never will be on facebook. Though just maybe their wives are!  And many will not even have internet. At 60 about 1/3 I know do not have internet and over half [like me] have no interest at all in the b/s of social media. And nor do many younger either.

Personally the word to many will have to be spread person to person.

I wish this event every success, it will get a lot of old friends together and hopefully drag a lot of old cars out of the woodwork too. And hopefully keep them out too.

Lee, this time I agree with you!

Facebook is not the panacea, the reach-all, save-all that some think it is. It's demoralising to see the twitter stuff on every news item on TV too, and to know that members of parliament use that stuff as well. Give me e-mail and forums...

I was actually hoping someone would cut and paste the info up rather than use the facebook page as I know some are against it but like it or not there are many people who we would never have been able to contact if it were not for facebook. I did use a small 'f'  on purpose in spite of what spell check advise me to!

Max Stahl should be invited. He was a major booster for Formula Vee from the very beginning.

Damon Beck won't be able to attend, sadly.

But I'll be there - doesn't make up for Damon, of course. And my Dad's coming too - much more importantly.

I'm planning to drop in for an hour or two on one of the days. I live in VIC these days so trying to arrange a detour on my way. Hope to see a few people I remember from the early 70's. Should be great

Max was aware, though he may not be aware that he's considered to have played a part...

I wonder if I could convince Peter Scott to come out from California for this? I spent a day with him when I was in the US earlier in the year.

Has anyone contacted Dave Turnbull? As a one-time 'Vee National Challenge' winner he should be there. Derek Fry? Bob Prendergast? John Bowe?

Interstate folk might not be too keen to come to a low-level event at Wakefield. Bear in mind the Nationals are in Tasmania later in the year (and will incorporate a 50th year element). Also, the Phillip Island Classic has Vee racing next year.

Getting to more than one can be a stretch for some - I'll be at Wakefield and Phillip Island, but probably not the Nationals.

Hi All

Now that I am here if you want any info re the 50th I can help you and if you know people that should be there and can contact them let me know and if you can not contact them let me know and I will go looking.

I apologize in advance for any spelling mistakes but I build and fix cars I do not write about them and at 60 years old the mind works faster than the fingers do so mistakes will be made.

If you want to contact me,

Email john551@bigpond.com

Phone 0407 503 950 if I do not answer leave a message and I will call back.

But be aware that I am not organizing the 50th I am helping FVANSW and Wakefield Park with past cars and drivers.

Any Help you can provide is welcome as so far David Cutts and I have got it this far with help.

Regards

John Fab (Fabiszewski)

OK I have tried to work out this site but do not have the Time for it.

You have my contact details.

If you want more info about the 50th you will have to go to Face Book and type in Golden Era s of Auto racing & formula Vee that is where every one else is and there is a lot more info other than FV.

This site is controlled by ME and this is how I have found many people.

If you want to look at old Amaroo Park Vee footage go to Youtube and type in Wirra Amaroo

Regards

John Fab

Yeah, to be an honest representation of a Vee it has to be red...

I'm struggling to remember...

But I think it was just a tad darker than a mid-red colour, possibly with a very slight orange tinge.

Just saw a note from John Fab on facebook, at latest count there are 114 attending the 50th dinner at Goulburn Workers Club on the Saturday evening, 15 old cars racing, 13 old cars in regularity, and 6 more for display and or parade! Really excellent response, will be a great weekend, anyone else out there??

Don't know what the program of events is...but a massed parade or static display on the main straight should be done...get someone(s) up in the Starters Box with video and camera equipment

Saturday afternoon last session of the day parade laps and photo sessions are hoped to take place. This is still subject to final approval of the program from Wakefield Park but Mathew has been more than willing and helpful so far. Saturday afternoon would have less impact of the track time of others. There may be a few to organise. I think they were going to try to line cars up for the parade in year/decade order meaning you could sort of stand and watch the evolution drive past.
