Jeremy, an earlier car that David Curtis owned was the Phantom, which I assume was a one-off. It was apparently scrapped before he raced it. Body could have come from that? Andrew Mutch was the owner before David and may know more - I can contact him if you want me to check.

Thanks Glen. I spoke to David years ago about the cars... I actually owned two of the four Leptons at one point. He mentioned Phantom, but when I said that to people they assumed it was the later cars of the same name. If you could ask him that would be great! I'm finally putting the car back together and I'd rather go historic with the original body than the rather square replacement it ran with in later life. Both would fit into group Vb and the car stopped racing in 84 before I entered it in a few hillclimbs a couple of years back.

Thanks Bruce, that's one more car accounted for. Would your dad remember Harry Crowden at all, or anything about his Rennmax? This seems to be the last mystery chassis.

Slightly off-topic, but I meant to quote an earlier post in my previous post but, despite selecting "quote", it didn't appear. Could someone tell me what I have missed because it isn't immediately obvious to me!

Hi Glenn. He said the name rang a bell, but he didn't remember any details. Damon or Britto would be the people to ask. Perhaps someone like Peter Williamson would know?

Welcome to geekland, Glenn...

When you go to post there's a light bulb or some other crazy 'icon' in the top left corner. You need to click on that and it will be just like the old days. It enables you to quote, to post pictures, amazing stuff. And once you've clicked on it your posting window remains in that mode until you click it off again, so you never do that so you can always quote, right?

Just another way the new software has made the place less user-friendly.

A Mk 2 Rennmax and a Nimbus, right?

And just what is that blue thing?

The yellow car is a Stag Vee and the other car is a Lamco Vee, the blue car is a Renault powered special.

Jeez Ray...one minute you are not quite sure how to address my alleged stupidity, and the next you want me to fill in the missing dots!

I'm tempted to cry balder-dash!

Thanks nim38...correct on all three counts

No Bruce, though Frank got even next time out at Sandown, turned me around coming on to the main straight, nearly had a head on with Bernie Haehnle!  :drunk:
