Hi . . . I am trying to find a good place where I can see the victories of this car in 1973. A friend suggested I come here - perhaps there's something on this site, but I didn't find it. Whether here or elsewhere, any assistance would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Diego:

I'm unaware of any neat package of such information, but Google is the place to start on the web, and Wikipedia.

If you can't find said neat package, compiling a list would make a good project. Find a copy of John Starkey's Carrera RS book. The Porsche customer magazine, Christophorus, from that era would be worth reading, too. Same with SCCA's Sports Car (U.S. only) and the Porsche Club of America's Porsche Panorama. More international magazine sources would be Motor Sport, AutoWeek, Formula/Racecar, On Track, Autocourse, Auto Motor und Sport, etc. You need a friend with a good automotive library, a photocopier, and a big coffee pot. In the old daze, Porsche published a little annual booklet, Sporterfolge, with all known Porsche race results, worldwide, but I think its last year was 1965. Juergen Lewandowski's Carrera RS book would also help, though I don't think it has race results, and it's very much out-of-print.

Some Carrera RS race cars were probably developed and modified until they were hardly recognizable, so where and when would you stop?

Frank,

'Carrera RS' was written in 1992 by Dr. Georg Konradsheim and Dr Thomas Gruber. ISBN: 3950017917

Diego,

Are you looking for the RS' win record in only World Championship category races in '73 or everything worldwide down to club level?

My site (see below) lists all races of the GT Euro championship, german Rennsportmeisterschaft, IMSA and dutch touring championship where these cars raced (and won).

A very good book that you may find want you want in is by John Starkey called 'Porsche 911 R - RS - RSR' and which has all the individual chassis numbers and their related race histories in the comprehensive Appendix section.

Hi, thanks for the responses.

Actually, I'm involved with a proposal at work that involves Porsche, and the car we chose is the RS - I felt (rightly or wrongly) it was a good example of the quintessential Porsche throughout the ages. There is mention of some of the victories, but I felt if the proposal is approved, we better get our facts straight with its victories.

Of course, I got some info from Wikipedia and, while the site can be suspect in regards to true-blue facts, I think the info there was pretty good. Have seen a few sites with some good info, but none so far have grouped the info I seek to confirm the victories.

There is no pressure at the moment, so for now I'll check out the leads you guys have given me. I'm not a racing guy or even a Porsche guy but, as you may figure out from my username, I've got enough understanding about cars to sift through the BS and figure out what is the real deal.

Thanks a bunch, and have a safe holiday weekend!
