I know it is WG and I never went to Japan with him in those colours!

Is this still going? Who said anything about going to Japan? I thought we all agreed the photo is of Katayama at Imola?

There is no doubt it is Wayne and the helmet was his design early in his international career.

Here's a photo of Waynes helmet design from that period,

Perhaps this will jog Peters memory?

sounds like someone didn't want you to win Stu
Well I was never going to win but they were never going to help. We had become adapt at sneaking under tents late at night and helping ourselfs to used front factory fronts 1092"# I think, way better than the SV12 and 3 times better than the Dunlop Shite. Dunlop even took a tyre and dissected it to find the secret herbs and spices. We were not French or Italian so we werent going to get help. We were classed along side British riders so we always got shafted. But I have to say we were comfortable top 10 in that race, which in a time of 40 starters meant a lot.

My old boss Dave Degens; must be about 1974 and I could well have made those frames.

At Brands, it's the old scrutineering shed behind. Dave's missus behind him; can't for the life of me remember her name, it will come off the tip of my tongue as soon as I post this! No idea who the other guy is.

Not much fun starting with a disadvantage Stu, you reminded me of the guys at Cadwell a few years ago rummaging though the cast off tyres for anything useful  Even more ridiculous when you have to stick your neck on the line with what you have. My sympathies there mate

A good start, David ..... only it's not Superfrog on the #10 KR , and Ditchburn is not hidden by Hartog ;)

Good call on Hurley Wilvert, didn't think his foray in Europe on his private TZ would be remembered. Before that, Hurley had been a Kawasaki AND Suzuki USA official rider, and incidentally there's another rider in the shot who had the same curriculum ...

I think Boet is #39 partly hidden by Cecotto .

What about the others then ?

Well done Graham, Cliff Carr is the one who was factory rider for Kawasaki and Suzuki in the US , like Hurley Wilvert.

I think we've got most of them, #13 should be obvious, #20 not too hard, seriously... #36 might be more difficult, I knew of him but honestly wouldn't have recognized him without the entry list.

The Yellow Nava belongs to finn Tapio Virtanen, I think . Katayama didn't race in Europe in 75 , he first came in 74 for a half-season, stayed in Japan in 75 with just one foreign appearance at Ontario, and was back in Europe full-time in 76 with Sarome sponsorship.

Hurley Wilvert was a good AMA rider, and also a very good tuner/ technician . Worked with forum member T54 on quite a few projects.

Sorry again folks, didn't realise that David and Nigel had correctly identified Jack Findlay and Patrick Pons, and also Kiwi John Boote with #36, Nigel was quite close with John Woodley on that one ! John Boote came to Europe in 75 it seems, one year earlier than Stu , two years before John Woodley, three years before Dennis Ireland, to mention only those brave expatriates from NZ !

John Boote being the first person to race a TZ 700 anywhere in the world.

I actually ment the other side of Alex George for John Woodley, Philippe. I think I can make out a NZ on the front of the helmet?

Yeh, I dunno Nigel, JW had a kiwi and NZ on a silver helmet, not so sure...but I racecalled the Gracefield meeting where JB made the world debut of the TZ700, January 1, 1974, and you knew then, on the day, that it was a significant event...

Hi Ricky  I like the trendy Hondastyle leathers from their 'boutique' :) I remember a mate wanting some waterproofs and on finding some, he presented them to the bird at the counter (in Frettons, Coventry) and asked " do you do these in short fat f***ker size? :rotfl: :rotfl:

How much work was done to the motors on the CBs I wonder?
