Good spot Phil, miss old Dennis :( Eric Piner there also, I think lost his life that year, & the guy with one of the best names in racing Mr BTM Banglestein!

Gene McDonnell's correct, quite possibly one of the last ever racing shots taken of Gene as this was taken on the 3rd lap of the fateful Junior race in '86 :(

location?

Greeba Bridge/ Appledene area?

No Eric died the following year 1973. My first Manx on a Greeves Silverstone 24RDS. Eric crashed infront of me at Douglas bend Kirkmicheal, he was laying in the road seemingly intact. He had a very good ride in 1972, his debut year, on a TD2B.

Brian Banglestein, from Camel Vale, was never seen without a hat or helmet on for reasons only he and his toupe maker knew.

The Gene McDonnell pic was taken half between the Waggon and Horses pub and the Highlander pub.

Tony Rogers at Oliver's Mount is correct and its 1980.

It's not Giovanni Pelletier - close though

no, not Jock

Macca, I can see why you thought it was Mac Hobson as they're on a Ham-Yam but this driver/passenger rode the Ham-Yam for a couple of years afterwards and before Steve Abbott/Shaun Smith

Say Terry and Tony - I well remember Brian Banglestein (how can one forget!). He was often seen at Mallory mid-seventies, always sporting a long black wig, headband and shades (and yes, probably a hat as well!). A somewhat peculiar look! Rode a 500 Manx with white peel fairing. A rumour at the time was that he was a titled gentleman who, for various reasons, felt the need to be disguised. Either way, I'm sure there's a good story to be told. Can anyone throw any more light on this mystery man?

photo 1, no idea. photo 2 only the obvious, that it's Rocket Ron. photo 3 is Dick Greasely / Stu Atkinson, tt81? if so, still trying to guess where. At first glance I was thinking Billown dip, but it wouldn't have been the tt.

I don't know if this is cheating or just research, but rummaging through my youtube favourites I can't get the wall / road markings etc to match up, see about a minute in:

mgp '10, b'garro

ps. I never tire of replaying the mv at 50secs

It is Mal White and Phil Spendlove, Scarborough 1980

the guy on the Ducati is a 250/350 rider having a one off ride on this F2 machine, top short circuit rider

the two riders next to Chatterton were leading 250/350 riders too, particularly the one on the far left of the picture

I think thats a young Chris Mehew in the hat standing behind Chat, and Neil Tuxworth in the background (31) cant place the others.

Top of the two B&W pics, Phil Carpenter tipping into Governers?

Local knowledge wins again Paul -- it is indeed a young Chris Mehew -- I partnered him in the first 2-rider Production TT in 1975, on a Ducati 750.
Two names come to mind for the rider on Chat's immediate right:- Brian Peters(?) and Austin Hockley(?) :well:
Top B&W pic:- How about Mike Trimby (of present day IRTA)? :well:

correct Picblanc, the other rider is John Raynor on his Norton / BSA 350. His details are in the linked album I posted, below Dennis Rapley's. I remember 'Renzo' from the old iommgp forum, we exchanged a few pm's, but alas, they're un-accessible now. I remember Dave Williams too, as I mentioned a bit before. I don't know if he remembers a 17 year old race fan who pestered him for details about his bikes and road racing, I wonder where he is now?
