I own the ex Gustav Fischer 1978 DRM BMW 320i Gp 5 race car and i seek some info photos any race mag articles on the car and driver
I am told the car was possibly built up by Gustav from the remans of the works BMW car from DRM round 1 1977 when Eddie Cheever? wrote off his car
Many teams built their own cars from the kit that BMW motorsport sold back then
i have looked up some the DRM races are for 1978 as it seems he raced the car only 4/5 times this year and i list below the result/ position in Div 2 class & race number for my car
here is a link to the GS tuning thread where i have also asked about my car and a photo is thereof my car in dayglo red livery

Later in 82 I am informed that Kenneth Leim of Sweden had the car at the Silvertsone 6 hour race but DNQ DNA at 3 other races that years but seemed to qualify for Spa 1000 km race but i think event was abandoned
Later the car goes to Scandanavia to race as do 2 or 3 other BMW 320i Gp 5 cars
Today the car is metallic white & has the name on it now of John K Westman but i have not yet googled him but on 10-10 forum i have had a guy with swedish / norwegian saloon car & GT website list some info but no photos yet
I list below events dates results car number and wonder if anyone has more info from euro race magazines any photos of the car at the races especially under bonnet photos in car shots of the dash cockpit etc
I am not sure if Gustav Fischer had his own tuning garage business but i have seen in the 75 76 DRM results he raced a 2002 car and i wonder of he is still around

Is there a german historic race car website like this site where you may find some guys talking about cars

Not sure what your car looked like then, but there are quite a few 320's featured.

Have a look over on the 'other' forum, I unearthed a photo of the car not long ago from a german magazine. If you're Kevan of course, you already have it.

i had seen these fotos before but could not recall where
i have tried to google Hartmut schulz and found his hosting of his fotos on a similar site ( and on the riccardo patrese website) but i cannot find a way to contact him
maybe the german speakers can get a better link to him
i am very keen to get some static shots of the car and internal car shots before i start the strip down
i am torn as to how to rebuild the car
1 do i repaint in the red as Gustav raced the car
2 do i become a tart and repiant in a famous livery warsteiner is my 1st choice jaegermeister is 2nd NO i iwll NOT paint in BMW works colours that is being too much of a sad "tart"

Actually, that kit originated with ESCI in Italy, and the suspension detail isn't great, certainly not enough to use as reference for a 1:1-scale restoration. The Tamiya kit of the car is even worse in that respect.Originally posted by Frank de Jong
I know Revell made plastic 1/24 scale models with full suspension details.
km1164, I have some detail photos of the engine, interior and boot of a works 320i Turbo owned by BMW of North America. If you're interested, email or PM me and I can scan them for you.
