I am new on this forum and hope you'll be able to help me. I am Jean Heurtaux's grand daughter. I never knew him obviously as he died in a car accident when he won the race of Planfoy in Saint Etienne when my mother was a child
I am trying to find information and pictures about him. So if you have or know anything, please let me know, because I don't even know if he won many races!!
Many thanks!!!!!

Looking at the story of the Jaguar XKC 035 in "Jaguar sports racing cars" by Phil Porter,I found:
1953 Soleil Cannes Rally**;Mille Miglia, accompagned by Madame Heaurteaux (sic) as co-driver (Capt Crespin*** failed to arrive in time),completed course but unplaced;Planfoy hillclimb,StEtienne, broke record but Heaurtaux (sic) crashed fatally after finish.
In Orsini Mille Miglia book:1953:n°623 Heartaux J.(sic)-Millo S. Jaguar
* 8/6/52 12 heures d'Hyères:Heurtaux/Crespin Jaguar 1st
** 29/3/53,2/4/53 Rallye Soleil Cannes Heurtaux/Mlle Millo
*** Capitaine Marceau Créspin I presume.

By the way, he wasn't with his wife. My grand mother was trying to divorce because he had too many mistresses....

Also ask at this French language forum, if you wish. I am sure someone there will have more details:

Thanks for all the answers and the address of the other forum.
Carles, do you know where I could find more details on those races? I'd like to find pictures as well if possible.

From what you wrote it seems needless to ask for the circumstances how he came into the cockpit of that car. But perhaps you have some more in your family album?

M grand father went to a very good french school. He was major of Supelec. When he got out, he became a soldier and that's when he met my grand mother, in Nice. I don't know how much he loved her because he pretty much married her for money. Once he became rich, he started to have affairs and race. He also sold cigarettes in the black market. Apparently he illegaly earned a lot of money but put everything in switzerland and my grand mother was never able to get it back.
Unfortunately it seems all the pictures were lost, and my mother only have a picture of him with a uniform on.

The Supelec and army part might explain the link with Capitaine Crespin. Crespin later became a Colonel and also the equivalent of French minister for sports (early 60s).
I can add a few results for Jean Heurtaux :
1952 Apr. 27, Coupes de Printemps, Montlhéry, Production cars race : 1st 2000cc class (Porsche)
1952 May 26, 12 Heures de Casablance, DNA with Marceau Crespin (Jaguar)
1952 Sep. 16, Tour de France Automobile : 54th, with Molinelli (Porsche 936)
1952 Sep. 28, Circuit d'Agen : 5th (Jaguar XK120)
A Daniel Heurtaux raced various Panhard and Renault cars in the late 1960s - any relation ?
I'm in Nice too Nanice - did you check the local archives for information ? Lots of periodicals there http://www.nice.fr/m...e_nice_776.html

I realize this thread is quite old, wandering if Nanice is still active here. I have recently acquired my father's photos he took in Italy when he was a TRUST trooper in Trieste 1952-1953. Among the photos are some of the Mille Miglia '53 and one photo of Jean and Susanna Heurtaux in car #623.

Indeed it is an old thread and Nanice is not probably around anymore but just in case, a photo of Jean Heurtaux can be found here:

According to the caption it is the Monaco GP of 1952. No doubt it is Monte Carlo but oddily enough his name is not in the list of participants in the 1952 race other sources mention. A support race?

Jean Heurtaux drove a Veritas in this event, being classified 15th although apparently not running at the finish:

It was indeed a support race. The big cars (over 2 litres) ran in the main Grand Prix. The smaller classes (2 litres and under) ran in the Prix de Monte Carlo, held the day before the main event. It was while practising for this event that Luigi Fagioli had his ultimately fatal accident.

Thanks, Tim, for clarifying.
