Its amazing really...Hindsight shows that some GP/F1 drivers of the 1950's had difficulties with Indy. Fitch, Fangio, Farina...legends in Europe and non-contenders at Indy. The track of "4 left turns" was thought to be an easy go, until they tried them.
Your Blog helps me get through the Blah days...thanks!

But, it's a bit odd to see Chapman in a Lotus 49, complete with DFV and wide tyres in an article from 1964!;)

It was the best shot of Chapman I could find/steal...for educational purposes only...
Sheesh.
Always a critic in the crowd....

This one took many hours to compile...typing, photo scanning and editing (and stealing..err...borrowing), researching... My eyes are bleeding and my back hurts!
I used the published article from the Indianapolis Star Magazine, which they edited the hell out of, and Dad's original copy, along with many more photos...some never seen before.....EVER!
Going through all this material, I found a sleeve of black and white negatives which my father took in 1974 when Al Unser and Mario Andretti took the Tucker for a spin. Al and Mario were trackside for Firestone tire testing, and had nothing better to do than thrash a classic collectible car!
I really hope you all enjoy this stuff.

Brian, I'm a little curious about this shot and its background...
I came across it on another forum, I'm guessing it's 1956 but I don't really know. Any chance of finding out who it is beside the car and whose car it is in the background?
And is it at Indy?

That's the owner standing by the car.
