...and jolly well it went, too!

Even more impressive at the Goodwood Revival. What an excellent win!

Don't you just love drivers of period single-seaters who carry on wearing open-faced helmets with visors?

And, inevitably, he won. Terrific.

Derek celebrated 50 seasons of racing when he took part in the Classic Clubmans race at Oulton Park recently with his Ladybird Mk10, a car he last raced in 1973. Derek first raced at Oulton with an MG Special in 1961!

Just to show how versatile Derek is, he cooked us a mean fried breakfast at Cadwell last week-end at around 6.45 am, before finishing second in the Formula Juniors.

Note the Marshals Club sticker above the Union Flag, Derek was the first Honary Life Member of the BMRMC North Region. This was in recognition of all his help with marshals training in the 70s and 80s.

Derek was on form again at Donington last weekend

He worked his way up to second place before mechanical gremlins forced him into the pits ............

Would anyone be able to PM me any contact details for Derek Walker? I wonder if he might recognise my current project, an unidentified historic Clubmans car. It's geting hard to find anyone who was around in the eary days of clubmans formula now

Many thanks,

Al

I'd be interested to see a picture of the first Walker Ladybird.  I had a letter from Don Rawson recently saying that in the early sixties he removed and gave the tail of his Lotus Mk VI to Walker for his first Ladybird.  There is a George Phillips photo of the Lotus showing the car when it was being raced by Eric Dobson at Mallory Park on 26th April 1959 here.  Autosport described it as "E. Dobson's peculiar looking Lotus".
