Suppose you win the lottery?

I imagine that I would buy a membership in the local upper class private sportscar track and then begin to fill up my garage....
Since it is almost impossible to purchase the real thing, I would buy replicas of famous racing cars. Here is my shopping list:
1) The new Scarab clone being built now a days. 1958 front engined American sportscar. Silky smoothe. The last of the really big bore front engined sportscars. And drop dead georgious!
2) The replica Corvette Grand Sport. Brutal. Perhaps undeveloped because Chevrolet pulled out of racing about the time it reached the track. A real Cobra killer if it had been allowed to continue.
3) Herb Thomas's Cheetah. The quintessential hotrod front engined (maybe MID engined) sportscar. Wicked fast. Brutal. Would have given the Grand Sport and Cobra a run for the money if Chevy haddn't pulled out!
4) Jim Hall's Chaparral 2E. Still built. The first of the big aerodynamic wing cars. Precursor to the Can Am cars. Elegant!, with style!
All today built pretty bullit proof for old ham fisted (and footed ) guys like me.
Give me those and I wouldn't bother the wife anymore....
What would YOU buy if YOU won the lotto?

Perhaps straying a bit from the intentions of your post...
I'm unemployed and I often have trouble getting to sleep. To help fall asleep, I also imagine I've won the lottery (don't know what it is here in Indiana, but if it's $64 million, I wouldn't much care if they're "wretched" American Dollars or not).
I'd build a house out in the middle of nowhere, next to some busy railroad tracks and build a nice kart track on the property. I'd do it up right. It would have "karting-scale" corners like Eau Rouge and other famous corners I've heard about over the years. I'd put in all the neat timing systems I could. Then blast around having fun. If I get tired of that, I'd go up to the house and watch trains and play around with my elaborate HO scale model railroad...

1) Ferrari 250GT SWB
2) Porsche 908
3) Bugatti T57
4) Chevron B19
5) F5000 - first choice Chevron B24 second choice Surtees TS5
6) BRM P153 or P160
Of course they would have to be the genuine article not a "continuation model".

I'd get my favourite car in the best possible condition which is this one and maybe something like this
...and aah of course, how could i forget that one which leads to this (i'd buy the backdrop too in that case)
ummm..let's see...maybe a few of those ,just in case something goes wrong with one of the others.
aah..and i'd never work for anybody else again....
off to bed...

I'd rather drive the real cars than a simulator......just don't get the 'seat-of-the-pants' feedback the same unless you're in the real thing.
I think I'd get these nice people to build me one of these with a new BRM V8 from H&H.
Then I'd have a nice motorhome with trailer and take it round all the surviving great circuits in the world......

Then, a McLaren/Ford M23 parked next to it, perhaps a Mercedes 35PS for Sundays, and something glitzy for special occasions, let's see... a Fiat 806/406, or a nice Meskowski/Offenhauser Champ Car (Foyt's 1963 Sheraton Thompson #2)? :cat:

I'd try to coax Gordy out of retirement to do a one-off at a short track somewhere...
And I would start my own race team and hire a couple of my NorCal sprint car driver friends.
I would also be able to build my own dirt oval in the area, that'd be way too fun.
I'm not sure if it's enough to fulfill my pipe dream of rebuilding an exact replica of Riverside, Turn 9 and all...

I'd probably give most, if not all, of it to family/friends/church. My 92yo mother is fond of saying, "The best things in life are not things." The older I get, the more I believe the truth of that.

I'd also buy about a 40 foot sailboat well equipped for living aboard, and keep it somewhere on the west coast, say San Diego.
I'd ride the roads in the Summer and the waves in the Winter, and would continue to enjoy cars from a distance.
I'd structure the money so that no one would ever have to take care of me (financially at least), make sure I couldn't blow it all too quickly, and properly dispense out the remainder to my kids and a couple of favorite charities.
Of course I've never played the lottery in my life, and don't anticipate doing so in the future. I figure I'll get the Utah property and maybe even the sailboat, but that's another 10 or 15 years away.

Daytona Cobra Coupe
Alfa GTZ mk1
and a GT40
and a Lotus 23
Of course , I don't really have to wait as I have notification of wins of hundreds of thousands in my email every day , not counting the multiple good people whose whole family has perished in car/plane crash/revolution and are just waiting to share their multi million pound windfalls tied up in some African bank.

Set up a full shop with all the bells and whistles. Inside the shop will be a 250 GTO, Lola 332, modern F1 car, Porsche cup car, and my daily drivers Porshce and McLaren.
Oops, I think I went over budget already.......
I'll hope to win another lottery.....

As for me I think I would collect some Coopers - lowline, bobtail, 500, monaco. I'd also probably make the first call to try and talk the current owner of the McKee MK4 into letting me be its caretaker. One of the king cobras would definitely be on my short list.
I also understand the thread starter's desire for replicas. I'd also like to have a crop of historically accurate replicas that I can play with and potentialy prang without destroying a historically significant original. I'd get a leaf sprung small block cobra, a daytona coupe and a GT-40, and drive the snot out of them
These and a well equipped shop to tinker and I'd be set I think.

Ferrari 166/212 coupe by Touring. Oh yeah I'd take a Barchetta if no coupes available.
Early Gordini monoposto.
Then would come, wine, women and song. I would then squander the rest!

I'll add a continuation Lola T70 to my list.
