Just stumbled onto this fantastic collection of early, mid and late-sixties pictures by Sigurd Reilbach taken at Spa, the Nürburgring and Hockenheim. Some of the action shots are amazing - they include panning techniques that weren't yet seen much at the time - but the paddock atmosphere and the portrait photos are wonderful as well.

The site does not allow deep-linking, so I will just have to paste the URLs. These are some of my favourites - ah, those portraits:

Standing between Jenks and Graham Hill in photo ......13386665 is, I think, Laurie Morten (Morton?) of LAT Photographic.

I don't recognize this portion of Spa, but it appears that the car is going in the wrong direction.

Two photos later we have it the right way round, thus:

and that's captioned Das ist Bild 51 aber seitenrichtig. Der Streckenabschnitt von der Spitzkehre La Source auf die Start- und Zielgerade. Jetzt passt's.

(that's picture 51 but the right way round. The section from the hairpin "La Source" to the start/finish. That's better)

Some real gems here - amongst others a spinning Gerry Birrell at Hockenheim, Cyd Williams winning the Super Vee race in the Royale (again at Hockenheim), Brian Redman's Cooper crash at Spa in 1968 and loads, loads more!

Well spotted Mattijs

Thanks for finding that racer deamon . I've already used the saved function on it . I love browsing those old photo sites . Some of those pics really "speak" to you , if you know what I mean .

Here's a couple of sites I've had saved for awhile .

http://fotos.iher.net/

http://f1gt.ifrance....ies/gal1978.htm

There's probably an easier way to navigate that second one , but I can't figure it out . The arrows on the left and right top side of the screen will take you through it , though it's a bit tedious . If you go all the way back to the 1950 page , you'll see a "book" icon on the top lefthand side , which will take you to a list of more photo's .

www.shoreynet.com used to be a great site for not only racing photos but "general" car pics , but for some reason I can't get the site to open anymore .

A very interesting "look back" over many years, and it's amazing some of the things one can discover - like, what Mike Hawthorn was driving in 1954, for example(!) Posted Image
