Correct me if I'm wrong, but a quick search of the forum hasn't come up with this specific topic - information is dotted around in various threads, but none of it has been compiled into one.

None of the results sites for (championship) Grand Prix racing (1950 onwards) display DNA (Did Not Appear) entries or even DNP's (Did Not Practice), sadly, so I was hoping to compile a list of them (in chronological order) here. Others appeared in unofficial practice, usually with the intention of racing, but did not practice officially hence also do not appear on the entry lists.

I would like to of course include as much information as I can - the year, race, circuit, driver's name, car, engine, number assigned and a reason for their non-start/appearance.

I will start off with some that are already known, plus one which you may not have heard about and an additional 2 that are rather well-known and maybe shouldn't be included in the list...I consider FORIX to be the ultimate Grand Prix results site, hence if it's not on there, it should be on the list below.

1959
US GP - Sebring :: Steve Wilder - Lotus (F2) - [ENGINE] - #?? - Car did not arrive

1963
US GP - Watkins Glen :: Ernie de Vos - Stebro-Ford MkIV - #21 - entry denied

1969
British GP - Silverstone :: Silvio Moser - Brabham BT24-3 - Cosworth DFV802- #?? - Entry denied
German GP - Nuerburgring :: Silvio Moser - Brabham BT24-3 - Cosworth DFV802 - #?? - Entry denied

1974
Spanish GP - Jarama :: Jorge de Bagration - Surtees TS16 - Cosworth - #29 - Sponsors pulled out, lack of funds.
Spanish GP - Jarama :: Silvio Moser - Brabham BT42-06 (Bretscher) - #32 - withdrawn, for obvious reasons, sadly...
British GP - Brands Hatch :: Andy Sutcliffe - Brabham BT42-06 (Scuderia Finotto) - #32 - withdrawn/entry denied?
German GP - Nürburgring :: Manfred Möhr - Brabham BT42-06 (Scuderia Finotto) - #32 - withdrawn/entry denied?
Italian GP - Monza :: Jean-Louis Lafosse - Brabham BT42-05 (Scuderia Finotto) - #32 - entry denied (Facetti was accepted in #31, BT42-06)

1975
Argentine GP - Buenos Aires :: Nestor García Veiga - Berta LR / Berta-Cosworth LR (or 'Berta-1') - #29 - withdrawn

1976
Austrian GP - Oesterreichring :: Otto Stuppacher - Tyrrell 007 - Cosworth - #39 - Entry denied
Austrian GP - Oesterreichring :: Karl Oppitzhauser - March 761 - Cosworth - #40 - Entry denied

1978
Belgian GP - Zolder :: Patrick Neve - March 781 - Cosworth - #?? - Did Not Practice ??
Belgian GP - Zolder :: Bernard de Dryver - Ensign N177 - Cosworth - #?? - Did Not Practice??

1981
Brazilian GP - Jacarepaguá :: Ricardo Londoño-Bridge - Ensign N180B - Cosworth - #14 - Did Not Practice ???

Never any such thing as an 'English'GP was British.Also I don't follow if an entry was denied it could appear on the entry list? One of the few benefits of the Concorde agreement seems to be the end of the DNA :)

And to continue with Moser-related DNAs:

1974
Spanish GP - Jarama :: Silvio Moser - Brabham BT42-06 (Bretscher) - #32 - withdrawn, for obvious reasons, sadly...
British GP - Brands Hatch :: Andy Sutcliffe - Brabham BT42-06 (Scuderia Finotto) - #32 - withdrawn/entry denied?

Italian GP - Monza :: Jean-Louis Lafosse - Brabham BT42-05 (Scuderia Finotto) - #32 - entry denied (Facetti was accepted in #31, BT42-06)

Londoño-Bridge did practice in the Wednesday track acquaintance session prior to the GP.

Other famous F1WC GP DNAs include the second Stebro entry and the Berta 'lobster claw-lookalike'.

1963
US GP - Watkins Glen :: Ernie de Vos - Stebro-Ford MkIV - #21 - entry denied

1975
Argentine GP - Buenos Aires :: Nestor García Veiga - Berta LR / Berta-Cosworth LR (or 'Berta-1') - #29 - withdrawn

Excuse,
but why are also with the car one Silverstone, in the Workshop from Bill Lacey, about 500 meters from the track.
There was no way to compete.

Also, there was some talk about Serenissima entering its own car for the 1967 Monaco GP, with Roberto Bussinello driving. Does anyone know whether the entry was actually made?

Urm, have you tried looking at http://www.silhouet....e/f1/title.html? Wilder listed for 59 Sebring + others, also '63 US GP etc. Admittedly not all DNA's are listed, but certainly some.

Back In The Day, many of these "entries" were actually generated through the gossip columns in the various Comics, some being legitimate efforts that went awry, but many seemed to be more along the line of "trial balloons" or wishful thinking on the part of all involved. Wasn't Steve Wilder at SCI then? I vaguely recall his writing an article on his adventures in F2 with his Lotus appearing in the magazine along about this time. I would suggest that you draw your own conclusions on that one.

Mulling this topic over, one of the more entertaining sidetracks that you can wander down -- a long way if you are not very careful -- while doing research is that of entries that weren't. Time and again I have encounted an item stating that So-&-So would be appearing Somewhere Sometime in a Such-&-Such only never to appear. Some are really rather fascinating to contemplate, wondering just what really was the story behind THAT particular little effort..... Sorry that I never made a record of them, mosty because they were rather commonplace and also because you could often detect a pattern if you stood and took a hard look....

Maybe he forgot to bring his ID with him and they wouldn't let him into the paddock. ;)

Harald Ertl appeared as a listed entry for the 1977 British Grand Prix, in Hesketh 308E #25 (under the Hesketh Racing banner). This was withdrawn before pre-qualifying, for reasons that escape me, although the car was present. Here's the photographic evidence...

As for Ricardo Londono Bridge, I have a feeling he was deemed to be insufficiently experienced following his pre-Brazil test with Ensign, although he wasn't comically slow (unlike, for instance, Fulvio Ballabio, who was about five months off the pace when he tested for Spirit at the start of 1984). Ensign put Marc Surer back in the car following RLB's rejection, but I fear the latter's sponsorship was used to cover running costs...

Not at all, actually. He did a 1.41.77, only 0.06 behind Villeneuve. No, really! :D

Best time was set by Reutemann (1.37.48), so less than four seconds in that car is not bad, considering that his replacement Marc Surer did a 1.41.00 on Friday morning when conditions were about half a second faster.

Oh, and Michael, there I go with my better-safe-than-sorry approach to umlauts... :
