Has anyone earned all of the awards yet, I've only got one left to get "Win 8 WDC's". Just wondered if you get any special reward for getting all 30 awards ?

I believe they take one second off your time at the track you want :rotfl:

We always need more than we have  . This is life. Anyway it's just a relative problem, like most of ours, it's the human factor. The A3/Phil93 factor in this case.
Let's look at it this way: There are only two guys in the whole world that do it better than you/me: 2 chances among 6,500 millions. We do this stuff better than 6,499,999,998 people. We are better doing this than Obama, Bin Laden, Scarlett Johansson, the whole ManU team, the Pope or the Queen of England. We have better times at any track than MS himself. Congratulate yourself, Jay, you've done a very good job.
...and your dogs love you the same that when you had many golds.

Uff, It's the last time that I drink wine for breakfast :drunk:

One great doubt comes to my mind now: Do you practice with the game before or after drinking? :p

I've tried both. I've also tried practising whilst drinking different drinks to see if it helps lap times, there's a small speed advantage when drinking Brandy, or at least everything looked like it was going faster

Be careful. Your wife could be hidden on the corridor and make you the BAC test

OT: If you are interested and want to know a Spanish opinion about Rioja wines, here are some brands that I like and that I would advise you to try if you can get them where you live:
- Muga (torre Muga) (the best for me)
- LAN seleccion especial
- Señorio de cantauri
- Marques de caceres
- Marques de murrieta
- Viña ardanza
- Viña pomal
All of them must be "Reserva" (or "Crianza" if it's too dear)

And the one I like the most is called "REMELLURI". It's not a true Rioja, it's a Rioja Navarra, but it's absolutely great

From memory I'm sure I've tried the Marques de caceres, Marques de murrieta and the Vina pomal but to be honest neither I or the misses take a lot of notice of the brands since we've never had a bad Rioja we simply just buy what ever Rioja they have, but I'll make a note of those brands and keep an eye out for them, Rioja's are quite well favoured in the UK so I shouldn't have to much trouble finding them.

EDIT: Sorry for going off topic everyone, normal service will be resumed as soon as Phil or A3 gets another Gold................won't be long now

I'm can't get any faster without new better set-ups, and I'm useless at finding set-ups. I'm kinda like Kimi :p Give me the best car and I'll thrash it round...

If you were to look at all my setups you would find there's only two things that can change a lot from one circuit to another and that's

Suspension, where some tracks are better with a hard setup around 60 - 70 while others I use a soft setup 15 - 30.

Brake Bias, some tracks I like to do most braking while turning in and find a setting of 30 - 40 is best to prevent under steer, while other tracks where most braking is done before you turn in 65 - 75 is best.

Other than that everything else is almost the same at every track with only a few subtle differences that probably only amount to a tenth or two, and I've spent a lot of time on setups.

Next time I'm on there I'll have a look and see what I've used for what tracks, but it will depend a little on individual driving style. Generally a track with fast flowing corners like Silverstone I find a soft suspension is best while something that needs very quick changes of direction like Monaco a harder setup is best, to be honest though there are plenty of tracks I've come across where I get similar lap times with either a soft or hard setup and just change the way I take the corners to suit the setup instead, so suspension settings might be a more player driving style thing rather than something that suits a particular track.

Might be interesting to see how everyone has set there suspension for each track to see if there are similarities between all of us or whether it is more a case of individual driving style that dictates suspension settings, I'll post mine tomorrow when I get the use of the TV back.

--- Bump --

Where are you guys? :p

As well as my new times above, I also have new times from today!

Barcelona: 1:16.537
Interlagos: 1:08.080
Istanbul: 1:22.055

Silverstone: 1:13.224 - Lost 0.6s in S3 :(
Spa: 1:38.943
Suzuka: 1:27.356
- I can go 0.7s quicker if I nail a great lap, because once I was 0.2s up after S1 and another time I gained 0.5s alone in S2 before cutting the chicane

And just to seal my street master crown:

Singapore: 1:33.810
s1: 25.688
s2: 36.276
s3: 31.846
On my best lap, I was 0.85s up after S2 but that had gone down to 0.55s after S3, so there's three tenths in there!!!

Hello, guys.
It's May today. This stuff started about mid February and there has been 36 sheet updates since then
This is how the things are going now.
Phil holds more records than A3 and has got almost the same points.
The rest of us seem to be on our limits and giving up
Well, it was good while it lasted

No, don't giving up :rotfl: Didn't play for a couple fo weeks but played Mariokart and Forza3 a bit. Can play a bit later today on F1 2009, but I started in carreer mode so no records cause I am in a Force India :| But I checked the gold records and my current settings cannot allow me to take any of them back.

Phil, you are doing an outstanding job! Maybe I will buy a PSP too  :stoned:

3 weeks wait for a F1 GP is way too long and doesn't make sense.

I felt that someone had to challenge A3 so I went for it. Bahrain was the perfect lap, nailed every single corner. All the other golds had sectors that could be improved

:p Full Multi Losses :stoned: I know... I didn't played it for a couple of weeks. Playing MW2 very much lately  But some of the laptimes are really insane and they are hard to believe because they would be world records. Lol.

Can't wait for F1 2010, then we can see our times online and race against each other on PC or 360!

Well I saw this game for a super cheap price at my local GameStop and decided to buy it.

But then I started playing it and I can't stop hitting almost every single wall. The handling is awful. How do you guys play? Eventually mastered it? Use a classic controller instead of the wheel?

Any advice will be much appreciated!

Turn all assists off except the traction control one and anti skid, once you get used to the handling you can turn off the anti skid but your brake bias needs to be set up perfectly to stop wheel lock under braking but once mastered gives better lap records because you can brake later.

To be honest I found it quite easy to get the hang of but you do need to get the right control device that suits you, don't bother trying it with the TC assist off unless you get a proper wheel with analogue throttle and brake controls.

Simple setup stuff that works for all tracks is max wing settings and max tyre pressures and I always find lots of over steer works best (95-100), generally low brake bias 35 to 45 with the anti skid assist on but brake bias needs to be more like 75 to 85 if the anti skid is turned off but you need to find exactly what works at each track, with the right brake bias you can brake whilst turning into corners without under steer.

And finally if your hitting the walls a lot, choose a track with less walls ;)

PS. I use the Logik 3 joystick, totally digital device but it works for me.

Thanks guys. I'll try those settings and see how it goes.

I did notice that if you face the controller or wheel towards the ground instead of towards the tv it's a lot lot easier.

I did 20-something laps in Barcelona and finally completed some of them without visiting the sand. Absolutely nowhere near the times in your table, but it's a start. Let's say I'm the forum's Luca Badoer.

Just shed 2 seconds off my lap record in Monaco using a FI of all cars.

Although the FI is incredibly slow at top speed I'm sure it corners slightly better than the BGP, certainly quicker for me in Monaco.

Thx for the information, Phil. We have PES 2010 (it came with the console pack) and some others that my son wanted like Just Cause 2 and other shooters that I don't know (too old :p ).
I will look for Forza to practice a little. Do you have a steering wheel or something like that?

I finally got Forza 3 (and an HDMI cable). It looks superb, though I'm missing a steering wheel. I've been playing a little but I'm worried about my skills, because my 9 yo son smashed me in every race, in split screen mode. At Catalunya he was doing 1:33 with the Peugeot 908 but I couldn't get under 1:35.

I don't like Catalunya though but is a track that my son knows well (PSP) and so we played there.
I've put some laps (10 or so) at Nordschleife and I've done a 7:07 (Peugeot 908, automatic, braking points on... and some rewinding :p ). I once knew that track well, don't remember what game(TOCA?), playing with an ALFA Romeo or so. I was training then to go there (Germany) and rent a car (BMW, Mercedes,...) as the Nordschleife track used to be opened for the aficionados. I finally never went, but my brother and some friends did it for 3 or 4 times. I think now there are some problems with insurance companies and is much harder than 10 years ago. Now, I have enough with this incredible game.

is that with steering and braking help on?

Just antiblocking and traction helps on. Automatic shifting. If I ever get a wheel I will try with no helps.

BTW, I have a Logitech something for the PC, bought about 2 years ago, and I' ve been told that it could work for the Xbox. What dou you think? (yeah, just try it and see what happens  )

Do you play Forza on Xbox live?
