Happy New Year to all.

Just finished reading A Restless Life, Biography of Jackie Stewart, by Timothy Collins and Stuart Sykes. 2003 publication.

I never knew that Bob and Jackie were such very close friends.

Interesting to read that Jackie accompanied his friend and idol Bob to Goodwood in the early 60's for a test session with Ken Tyrrell.
This was a couple of years before Jackie was himself invited to test a single seater for Ken at which he surpassed all expectations and Ken took him on and guided him to greatness. Bob was interested to make the switch from two to four wheels, just as John Surtees had done. Sadly Bob did not meet what Ken thought was an acceptable standard and he didn't get a drive. As Jackie said "End of Story". The two friends headed back to Scotland. The rest, as they say, is history.
