Firstly my thanks to the 80 of you who came and especially to those who arrived in some splendid classic and sportscars which made a superb display on the lawns .
Thanks to Mike Costin and to Bob Dance who were wonderfully entertaining over 90 minutes guided by Roger Lund who did a splendid job.
What a star Bob Dance is in so much pain he could not stand never mind walk - yet so as not to let us down he forced himself to drive all the way from Norwich on his own and had to be carried in to the hall, spent the day in a wheelchair and then drove himself home - no wonder Team Lotus were so successful for so long with spirit like that fantastic effort much appreciated Bob ,and get well soon - in time for your birthday next Friday .,
To my sister Jane , her husband Bill and sons Will , Tom and to Alex who produced and served up just delicious food all day - huge effort goes in to all this home made food from the finest ingredients in preparation long before we all sit down on a Saturday it was just lovely much thanks to them all.
To Christine who runs reception with such efficiency, for everyone of the 13 shows so far, as well as the paperwork and a multitude of other functions which makes it all work on the day an essential and much appreciated contribution.
To Geoff Hawkes who has spent days with me doing preparation transport setting up very early Saturday morning nearly single handed then working in the kitchen fabulous effort much appreciated. A stellar effort when they were short handed in the kitchen and battling a complete failure of the hot water system , Geoff is a real unsung hero of the day and we just could not do it without him , brilliant.
Without the kind help of all these volunteers we would have stopped doing all this years ago.
To Rod Waller out there in Perth Western Australia - who did us another specially commissioned, for the day, cartoon depicting Mike & Bob in 1967 with the launch of the Lotus 49 DFV copies we presented to Mike & Bob at tea time. Copy to follow.
Great to see David McKinney back and looking so much better.
David has been a great supporter since we started has scarely missed a meeting and is a multiple quiz winner as well as being a very nice man.
A very special mention to my brother-in-law Bill who was cooking on the Barbeque yesterday was taken ill late afternoon with breathing difficulties and spent the night in hospital getting treatment and tests, he is due to be released we hope today but it has been very worrying we wish him a speedy recovery.
My most grateful thanks to you all
See you all again on 19th October ?
Photos from the day follow.
