I hereby welcome you all to submit entries for the tenth season of PTPC! Points system twist, see below!

NOTE NOTE NOTE
As there still at this late point remains uncertainty as to which points system will be used this season, I have after discussions with my consiglieres decided to go for the FOTA proposed points system: 12-9-7-5-4-3-2-1 points for the top 8.

Since I know submitting one guess, let alone two, for this game is a bit of a bitch, scores and everything will be calculated as if this points system is in use this year regardless of which system actually will be used in the WDC.

This is what you do:
Post a reply here with your guess on how the WDC final standings of this year will look; there are 731 (17*43) points to be distributed. Points are assigned to specific drivers, not "the second Ferrari seat" or anything like that (meaning that points placed on one driver aren't transferred to his replacement should a driver change happen).

You can edit your entry as much as you like until the deadline, which is at the start of the first free practice of the first GP of this season.

Using a spreadsheet to get the points sum right is really helpful (The sum of the first numbers you'll enter is extremely likely to end up way higher than 731, my first rough draft for this year ended up at 820 points!)

This is how points are scored:
For each point over 731 that you distribute, you'll be penalized one point.
You gain one point in the competition for each F1-championship point that you've placed right, which means:
-If a driver has a higher final WDC score than the amount of points you've placed on him, you'll get as many points from this driver as you've placed on him.
-If the driver scores less than you've trusted him to do, you'll only get as many points as he has managed to score.

An example: if players A and B have placed 30 and 40 points respectively on Button and Button scores 34 points in the WDC, the players will score 30 and 34 points respectively for Button. Player A would then on the other hand have placed ten more points than player B on other drivers, where they may have come to better use.

The competition is open for entries until first free practice starts at Melbourne.

2008 WDC using the FOTA points system:

Driv Pts

Mass 113

Hami 113

Räik 86

Kubi 83

Alon 66

Heid 64

Kova 57

Vett 37

Trul 32

Gloc 26

Webb 21

Piqu 20

Rosb 19

Barr 12

Naka 9

Coul 9

Bour 4

Butt 3

Buem 0

Suti 0

Fisi 0
Buemi didn't actually drive in 2008, I just added his name as a reminder of who is in it this year. Coulthard has retired, on the other hand.

This is my preliminary prediction (it is dreadfully difficult this season btw) :

Driver Points

Massa 94

Räikkönen 79

Hamilton 78

Alonso 74

Heidfeld 73

Kubica 67

Trulli 55

Glock 54

Kovalainen	48

Vettel 34

Webber 26

Piquet 11

Rosberg 10

Button 7

Bourdais 6

Barrichello	5

Nakajima 4

Buemi 4

Sutil 1

Fisichella 1

If you think a driver will score zero points, you don't have to put him in your list.

If you think some driver will come in as a replacement during the season and score points, feel free to place points on that driver too.

Good luck!

For practical purposes, this game simply will ignore the embarrassing lack of intelligence in the FIA and hand out top eight points according to the sane FOTA suggestion: 12-9-7-5-4-3-2-1 points, as stated above. Carry on, more entries please!

BMW is the surprise of the year. Ferrari is a bit too unreliable and McLaren has performance problems early in the season. Toyota can't quite rise to the top. Alonso continues to impress and Kovalainen is slow again. Brawn GP can't live up to the hype.

Just trying to give something to laugh about after the season.

This was much tougher than I thought it would be. I started off trying to give the drivers around 140 points more between them than they can get (even with 12 points for a win!) and I'll probably lose points for shaping my final table around the chance of the British pair getting more points than the Ferrari and BMW drivers...
