I was told on Friday night that two days before Peter Molloy had done a remarkable speed at Lake Gairdner on his 250 cc Road Bike, but have been unable to confirm this. Anyone?

TNF eligible? I will use Peter's remarkable motor racing background over 50+ years and (hush my mouth) his age in my defence.

I had a look at the DRLA site and no news. Landracing much the same. A lot of people are curious to know how it went. There was some rain but they got the meet in. In the spirit of keeping this as the TNF heres a 47 year old norton at Bonneville '07.

Hi John, if you follow this link (I hope I have done this properly!) http://www.dlra.org....er=asc&start=75 you will find a photo of Peter sitting on his bike which came from the D.L.R.A. website forums Australian Event News pages, Speed Week 2009 topic, page 6. As yet the class records for 2009 event have not been posted, hopefully they are up soon, as to your news on Peter Molloy I am not surprised that this talented gentleman has done well, Regards, Peter B.

Peter has been into motorcycles for a very long time, of course...

He engineered the winning bike that Wayne Gardner used in the 1980 Castrol 6-Hour, and that wasn't the first bike he did. Through the latter part of his time with F5000 engines he was also playing with bikes... I think he actually had something to do with some of the 750cc 3-cylinder Kawasaki 2-strokes when they were in vogue too.

Hi John, I agree the bike pictures are great and the stark scenery on the salt can make for some brilliant photos, as to the Vincent I have a friend who has a grand prix Velocette so if I was caught admiring a Vincent I would be dis-owned but you are right bikes of that vintage are very pleasing to the eye. May I ask how the book on the subject is coming, Regards, Peter B.

P.S. That picture of Rollie Free you mentioned is amazing you would very motivated not to "drop it" wearing only shorts.....

I think the kart is a bit brave!
The Vincents are lovely, I wish I could hear that noise, nothing like it

I remember when Rollie Free did that amazing run.

I have a commemorative T-shirt which I occasionally wear when my kids aren't around to make smart remarks about the "fashion police".

The Brian Greenfield book on Vincents in Australia has been published, but I havent yet seen a copy

Rollie Free was perhaps overdressed, wasnt he: he wore more than just bathing trunks -- he also wore a rubber bathing cap. I would recommend that You Dont Do That when your kids are around, Lotus 23

And Lee, just to set you right off: at Wangaratta Historic Speedway perhaps three years ago the entire sidecar field of 4 was made up entirely of Vincents, one of them supercharged. Absolute heaven

No news on Peter Molloy's pace?
