sorry all, due to Hamiltons disqualification BEFORE the next race the rules of the game mean that the results need to be recalculated as follows:

It looks like being a long old season for disputes and protests so there will be a slight rule change from the next round (China) that the results will be as per the 3 drivers on the podium with no further protests taken into account, (bringing this game into line with the other games)

sorry Grayson - you lose the outright win but still win the round!

Why do we keep having games where the points are awarded differently than what the WDC points are?

Have a nice game, I am out of this one.

Sorry KWSN-DSM but the Australia result was about to go up when the trulli penalty was announced, meaning the results needed to be recalculated with hamilton third, then of course hamiltons subsequent exclusion meant that the results needed recalculating a third time. This leads to a problem where the desire to post the results quickly, for the benefit of the entrants to see how they have faired, may lead to the above scenario, hence for the benefit of the game and following a few PM's to me on the subject, it is better for everybody to calculate the actual podium as celebrated, the game is 'Guess the Podium' after all (not guess the top 3 places after the FIA have finished all the politicking!).

You are obviously correct that the 3 drivers on the podium were Button, Barichello and Trulli, this was then changed to Button, Barichelli, Hamiltion, to be followed by Button, Barichello, and Trulli once again.

I can appreciate that the game is "Guess the Podium", as well the interest in posting results quickly. For about 98% of the races, this will also be the 'correct' podium in as much podium = 1st 3 points paying finish positions.

To me, be it called 'Guess the podium' or 'Guess the drivers who end being credited as holding the 1st 3 points paying finish positions' is mere semantics. I personally guess on what is 'facts' (and I am aware of how many posters dislike me for that), so what the FIA tell is the official finish, is the official finish for me as well.

You change can mean that at the end of season, a player in your game have had the podiums more correct than the actual winner.

And on a F1 BB where so must posting energy is spend on arguing minute disagreements, I find that holding games where the official result is NOT the one used to determine winners, is missing a lot of what 'we posters' keeps clamoring for in the FIA, FOM, FOTA.

Please do not see this as 'slamming the door', I just try not to be in the games where the results do not reflect what actually happened in the season. You as the gameowner set the rules, we can all join or not. I joined, and now find that the rules no longer meet the litmus test for what I prefer, so I leave. And I explain why simple as that.

So I do mean, have a great game.

Cheers,
Michel

It strikes me that there has to be some limit to this. If the FIA rule next week that the double diffusers are illegal and that their results in Australia were illegal, should the results of every single game be changed to reflect that Fernando Alonso won the Australian GP, with Buemi and Bourdais joining him on the podium? If the games had been held in 1997, would you think it sensible if the results of every single round of every single game were adjusted to show that Michael Schumacher was disqualified from the entire F1 season?

Given that half of the Grands Prix in the last two years seem to have ended with a dispute of some sort (with at least a quarter ending in a fairly serious dispute throwing the results into question), there has to be some sort of arbitrary cut off point at which we say, "enough is enough" so that we can get results for the game and move on. Whether that cut-off point is the podium itself, the classification by the end of the day or the classification by the time of the following race, I'd say that it's fair (so long as we know in advance) and that no one has any reason to complain.

Of course, Lewis Hamilton is probably a better bet if we're not including post-race appeals than if we are (and I'll let you decide whether that's because the FIA seem to have a vendetta against him or because he and McLaren are more prone to cheating than the other drivers and teams).
