If Button makes it two in a row tomorrow, he is definitely a real deal for 2009 WDC and Brawn GP is in contention for WCC.Originally posted by Taxi
wow... Ferrari just looks dead slow... And Button is proving he's a great driver! he's the favourit for the title if he wins tomorow. who would have guessed...
But nobody should underestimate Ferrari and McLaren. The could still improve with the new diffusers which could be in place before the start of European GPs.

-Toyota quick as well, with Trulli qualifying a close second with Glock fourth. Clearly they will feature in the race tomorrow as they have shown good speed over longer stints.
-Red Bull are in it too - Vettel third, but will drop back ten places. Better prospects for Webber who posted the sixth fastest time.
-Red faces at Ferrari as they messed things up with Massa not going for a second run in Q1. A bit better for Räikkönen who atleast progressed through to the next two sessions.
Please share your thoughts on qualifying!

I think he will be considerably lighter than a lot of them. Probably betting on raid or a safety car in the first 15 laps.

Congrats to Button!
Barri may be a bit heavier due to penalty.
Ferrari are a joke. Hope LdM regrets twice they chased Ross out.
And very very glad for Ross Brawn.

Ditto Trulli
Great from Vettel, pity about the crappy penalty. Very good from Rosberg and Webber, nice to see them at the sharp end of the grid.
Massa
I guess Raikkonen and Alonso are fuelled for a long first run. Raikkonen might not be able to use KERS tomorrow?
Why was the thread with the amusing thread title closed?

Ferrari were really stupid.
Glut of Raikkonen, Alonso, McLarens in the midfield, should be interesting. With Massa coming through from further back also.

Brawn
Toyota
Red Bull
Ferrari
Williams
BMW
Renault
McLaren
Toro Rosso
Force India
But the differences are very small, and it looks like Brawn might not own every other car tomorrow, i think Trulli will have a legit chance at winning the race. It it rains, then, anything can happen, even Hamilton or Massa could win it.
Talking about the qualifying, i think Ferrari were back to their amateurish ways in Q1, Massa should be in the top 10. Button, Trulli and Vettel were consistently fast and deserve their positions completely (well, Vettel will get a penalty, but the 3rd was well deserved). Good job from Alonso and Kubica for making it to Q3.

Trulli - didn't think he would be this competitive
Vettel - shame for the penalty
Barrichello - starting from 9th, but he can get a good result still as we saw last week
Glock - he's in a good position starting from 3th and probably heavier than Trulli
Rosberg - 4th on the grid, I hope he will be more competitive this time than in Australia
Webber - I guess he's pretty heavy...
Kubica - good, compared to Heidfeld, but BMW is a disappointment anway
Kimi - so is Ferrari
Alonso - same as in the first part of last year, just manages to get into Q3 with Piquet being far behind
McLaren : at least some overtaking is already provided, I'm sure Lewis will make a good use of KERS and his ability just like in Melbourne
Massa - no comment...

I don't know if thats reliable enough to guess fuel load.
I think he'll be 4 or 5th lightest again
remember he had kers switched off and still carrying the weight.

They were very competitive on longer stints, and Q3 is, as you know, done on race fuel. Relatively speaking, they've made a better impression here than in Melbourne, which is why I assume Räikkönen isn't among the lightest. But I've been wrong earlier today so I'm prepared to be proven wrong again tomorrow
...I noticed he didn't use KERS. Why not?

Look at the results for Q3, with all the double diffusers teams at the top, except Vettel.

They've not said or I've not heard, maybe incase the electrics catch fire again

I am a Ferrari fan but I have to admit that I am really enjoying seeing some different teams up at the front. This can only be a positive for F1. Hope the rain holds off and we have a great race tomorrow.

Still, I expect Trulli to do strong tomorrow, if anything happens to the Brawns or to Rosberg or Webber, something very nice might be on the cards... After all, he was 2nd here in 2005 and 4th in 2008.

McLaren said this would be a tougher circuit for them, but I think they've made a half-solid impression.

I think that shows two important things:
1.- DD diffusers give A LOT of advantage. If they are declared legal, then the top teams must develop their version ASAP.
2.- Adrian Newey is still the best.

Might be harsh, but I'm expecting atleast one Ferrari to retire through some type of failure tomorrow.
And one McLaren will probably hit something again.

Trulli is light too, as is Rosberg who must have been expecting better of his Q3.
It looks like Glock is heavier than both Trulli and Rosberg.
I suspect Webber and Kubica have roughly the same fuel, but Raikkenen is heavier and Alonso must be fueled for a moon-shot! (based on Q2-Q3 difference.)
Strange (and unlikely) as it may seem, RedBull may actually have got Webber's strategy right!
If my rough calculations are correct (based on long-runs in practice, fuel levels and barring any incidents) Webber could potentially be in third or even second after the first round of pit-stops.
Let's hope all the drivers have a clean and incident-free race.
Good luck to them all...
