1. Brawn
2. Toyota

3. Williams
4. Red Bull

5. BMW
6. Ferrari (KERS)

7. Renault (KERS)
8. McLaren (KERS)

9. Toro Rosso
10. Force India

BMW and Ferrari are close, I put BMW ahead because without KERS Kubica seems to be a touch faster than the Ferraris.

Interesting that the teams who put the most faith in KERS are the ones lagging behind, only faster than the two minnows.

Red Bull and Williams are also very close.

Minus the magic difs Redbull would be fastest. Of course this is only for now, by mid year I expect it to be way different.

Agree, Renault has the qualifying pace but McLaren race pace is better, at least in Australia, or maybe McLaren has a better driver than Renault's best driver.

Right now this is thequalifying pace (pecking order) IMO.
1. Brawn
2. Toyota
3. Williams
4. Red Bull
5. Ferrari (KERS)
6. BMW
7. Renault (KERS)
8. McLaren (KERS)
9. Toro Rosso
10. Force India

By mid season I guess the qualifying pace (pecking order) to be this ;
1. Brawn
2. Ferrari (KERS) 0.100-0.300 Behind Brawn
2. Toyota
2. Red Bull
5. Williams 0.200-0.500 Behind Brawn
5. BMW (KERS)
5. Mclaren (KERS)
5. Toro Rosso
5. Renault (KERS)
10. Force India 0.600-1 second Behind Brawn

The KERS unit was not taken out so it is still in the car which means he can use it.

I know that, the question is was it switched on?

Sorry, my mistake, I meant to quote Tahadar (edited now). Although people on this board are "reporting" that Kimi drove Q3 with KERS switched off, I have not myself seen any reliable sources giving this information. So, I simply cannot say.

Yes, I think Ferrari would have mentioned it if it was switched off. It's therefore interesting that Kubica without KERS was faster than Kimi.

The onscreen graphic indicated that KERS was not being used. The battery was not present inside the rev limiter on that graphic. It was the only time all day that particular graphic was used on the world feed, I would have thought it was obvious that the race director was trying to impress upon local commentators that KERS had been inactive.

But no word from anyone in Ferrari about it. Hmm, seems odd.

The problem for me is here mainly how to rate Red Bull versus Torro Rosso in the car standings, at the moment it seems to me 18 to 14,5, which is an amazing difference given that it should be really the "same" car with just different engines.

2009 - an interesting season indeed.
