I am quite relieved to see that Ghinzani has finally taken a proper driver for Team Italy in A1GP.
Really, it was heartbreaking. Piscopo and Onidi might be two wonderful persons but...

Toccacelo, who had the seat before them, was pretty good, probably not a world class driver but a more than decent one.
He managed to win just once, in China, the first time F1 raced there.
I remember he lamented that since Ghinzani gave the car to rookies for the first session, setup was quite often suboptimal. In China the track was a disaster, no practice time, so that time he was on a par with the others...

Now with Liuzzi we have a damn good driver for sure, probably the best in the field; we'll see if the team is up to his level.

Looking forward to seeing Liuzzi racing an open-wheeler again. And I agree, it was about time they picked someone that is actually good from their talent pool.

It will be interesting to see if Liuzzi can get his career back on track.

I was kinda hoping we'd maybe see Pantano in Team Italy a while ago, as he doesn't seem to have had anything else to do lately, but Liuzzi is also a great choice. I think we could see a pretty decent jump up the grid for the team with this choice, despite Liuzzi not having any experience with the car.

Pole position. The first ever for Italy. The first time Liuzzi touches the car.
Well, it was a driver problem, apparently.

Or the fact that he used the boost for the sprint race qualifying while all the other major players used the boost for the feature race qualifying where he is down in tenth.

Oh and if you get a chance peeps you have to see this track its a cracker. Too wide imho but still up hill and down dale. http://en.wikipedia....Algarve_Circuit doesn't look like much on paper but this vid gives an idea http://www.youtube.c...feature=related.

Theres a bit of vid on the A1GP site too

well, it seems that disgraceful race directing isn't exclusive to F1. Drive thru for Ireland, Portugal allows them through cause they are not fighting each other anymore, and all of a sudden the drive thru is gone? What a mess... I might be wrong, but it seems to me Germany served a drive through for the same reason Ireland would have, are they going to give the lost seconds back to them?

Apparently, the German drive though was for a different incident.

ireland was penalised and demoted to 5th (25 second penalty). At least the mess was cleaned up somehow.
