I am very happy to report to all of you that last night we have recovered both cars. The March is untouched, My Father's Lola is fairly well dismantled but complete. We will hopfully have it ready for the Brands Hatch meeting in early July.

I can't give any further details at the moment due to there now being an investigation, but I wanted to thank each and every one of you for the helpful emails, posts, activity that you have carried out spreading the word and even just the words of encouragement. It has meant so much to all of us.

I have to say that the phonecall I was able to make to my Father last night was just fantastic! I know it helped him immensely over the last 3 weeks, knowing that all of you were out there helping.

Please come back with the details, because other than shipping the cars to Eastern Europe or Africa (like what probably happened to my brothers classic Porsche 911) I can't imagine what the thieves wanted to do with it.

F******g A!!!! (is that how you say it???)

Yep - that's pretty much the way it's said. I echo that sentiment!! No doubt some excellent sleuthing by the officials involved. (steak dinners for the lot of them eh?) That is wonderful news and just in the nick-of-time apparently. Even though you probably have to wait for the car and the taken-apart-parts to clear the evidence room and associated paperwork, at least you have them back. I hope you'll be able to rebuild the Lola in time for your races. All the best...

Hope the wrong 'uns involved get their comupance! - sharing a cell with a big hairy man, only to emerge some time later with a walk like John Wayne! :)

Great news indeed. I trust the **** who stole the cars will now get skewered...but expect they will get away with the usual 'understanding of the social predicament' in which they probably find themselves. Even money on 'community service'?

Don't jump the gun Doug; let's wait for the story to unfold and react accordingly. :cat:

Quite right, of course - but even the most placid of us might be allowed the opportunity to spit blood and shrapnel once in a while...

I've been struggling with the 'new-look TNF' in not being able to clearly keep tabs on what threads have been updated and lost track of news on the nicked FA cars.

To my delight, I see now that both have been recovered and seem to be in good order. Splendid outcome...just splendid.

It's just great to know that we'll be seeing both these fabulous cars back on the track very shortly, and I can't wait for the conclusion to the story. It reads a bit like a crime novel, with the cars dissapearing without their wheels, the drill, tools and bikes going too. Then the distracting call to the local newspaper seemingly by the perpetrators; (is this the key to it?), and then the cars discovered, one intact and the other dismantled! I wonder what destiny the criminals had in mind for them?
Hopefully Bruce will post the full story here in due course, but I fully intend to collar him at his next race if we have not heard in the meantime! :)

Being a curious type, has the full story of the missing cars emerged as yet?

I am with Doug on this and believes that a bullet between the eyes might do the trick.
And not so figuratively speaking.

I would urge you to seek legal advicel before identifying them in a public arena... we dont want them getting off on some technicality - fair to assume that they are pikeys though!!! :rotfl:

DCN

Talking of splitting blood and shrapnel, some low lifes this week chopped the Rotax engine out of a Katana hangared on a strip in the Midlands. The 82 year old owner is devastated because at his age, he only had third party insurance. There are so many connections between cars and aeroplanes that rumours might get around or cheap engines offered. Owner and cops would of course welcome any information.

This tale of the two missing Atlantics has never been properly concluded; I wonder if Bruce Fullerton is in a position to do that yet???

As a stolen racing car has been a very recent topic, it led me back to thinking about this thread. Did this story ever reach a point where the conclusion could be revealed.......anyone??? :cat:

I have just stumbled across an ad placed by Cheshire Classics for Terry Fullerton's Lola T460 in the latest issue of HSCC News. This story has never been concluded on TNF, so can anyone tell us exactly what transpired?

I note from his profile that Bruce Fullerton hasn't visited the forum since May 2009. You may have to carry out your earlier threat and collar him at a race meeting, Tony.

Google throws up this report, which adds a little to the story (as I knew it, anyway):

The Lola did appear at a Wednesday morning Mallory in October of last year. However there was no sign of the four-oven Aga or the 11 Victorian-style cast iron radiators.

AND Somerset is nowhere near Liverpool. So who would do such a thing amongst the mild mannered yokels of that fair county?
