I think Toyota is ok, at the end when everyone was setting the fast times, they where on the hardtires. Trulli will fight for pole tomorrow.

Why Hamilton is using a new steering wheel and Kovalainen not? Anyone know it?

Seems all the best time were on (super)soft. Those tires are quicker however it looks like could not maintain their best shape after 3/4 of the hot lap like the "Qualifying" tires in lates 80s.

The new wheel allows Hamilton to control the pit wall rather than the other way around.

Because is a cheater! He's using illegal devices such as TC and LC! And active suspension! McLaren have tampered with the ECU! Chhheeeeeeateeeeeeeeersssssss!!!

I have no idea why one car would have a different wheel than the other...

On Radio 5 Live they were suggesting that during FP2. Not too surprised considering Hamilton is the team-leader and has won a title.

You mean not surprising considering Heikki is the number 2 driver. He was number 2 even before Lewis won the title so that justification just doesnt work im afraid.

Same MO as most teams. It's not always parts are ready for both cars. It's not always new parts turn out to be an advantage. It's not always both drivers need updates to their cars. It's not always things are what they look like.

Which means that he could easily go for a 1:36 lap on supersoft and low fuel.Originally posted by Matt Somers
Jenson's 1:37.450 was done on the harder tyre, he also had a massive slide he corrected in turn 13 of that lap too

Thats what I was going to say. It makes perfect sense to have the cars on different programs so that they can see what works best.

Exactly, Practice sessions will always throw someone in the mix like Lewis in the first session due to where they feed in with fuel and current grip on the circuit enabling a fast time in their current trim, i'm just watching thru the replay of the 1st session now but it appears the Brawns are consistantly putting in good times

The same what happened in Australia and Malaysia? They were at the bottom of the timesheets in every friday practice this year. Also, Shanghai seems to be a track that gives even more advantage to the diffusor gang... Ferraris and BMWs are fighting for P8 here. BTW congratulations to Brawn GP for another 1-2.

Williams very strong
Red Bull look like the main contenders for Brawn this weekend.
Toyota very strong.
Ferrari...well, thanks for playing? :
BMW...Heidfeld was nowhere and Kubica had ZERO balance
Force India really look to be moving up in the world
Toro Rosso solid

Indeed, people have to look at stint times and not just at the final list of fastest time. Ferrari stint times were okOriginally posted by Cenotaph
McLaren don't really seem that much better... at least, i don't see any point in applauding their efforts and bash Ferrari at the same time

I agree, if this DD Diffuser really does give you a load of extra performance, then yeah Red Bull will be the dark horse. But they have a different suspension layout, and I've read won't be able to incorporate a DDD?

Heh you wish! We can clearly see that Ferrari was all over the place. Much more damage without KERS, much more....

If he can fit in a few slow drives through the pits giving Flavio the finger that would be nice too.

Tomorrow, things will change slightly, and there is possibly a sting in the tail on Sunday ...
.............................................
All week the weather models have been projecting the timing of the rain, and as new data arrives those forecasts are continually updated. Over recent days, the trend has seen a slight acceleration of the low towards the east coast, meaning the cloud and subsequent rain is now predicted to arrive at the circuit slightly earlier than originally forecast.
The latest prediction for Sunday, at the time of writing, is that the day is set to begin with overcast conditions and rain could occur before the race is complete. Once any rain starts, it will be on for hours, leading to a very wet Sunday evening with as much as 30 millimetres of rainfall predicted.
The race starts at 15:00 local time, so will finish at approx 16:30. I wonder if any teams will "deliberately" leave the super-soft stint till last and hope for rain near the end? That way they won't need to go through the horrible stint.
