Vettel will surely lose his pole position

He won't get away with blocking Kovalainen.
The only question is, 5 place or 10 place grid penalty?

It was an in lap for Vetter, I don't think he will get away with that. Team could and should have radioed him and tell to move off the line and let Kova pass him at the back straight (which Kova expected, judging from the video), there is plenty of space there.

It was in Malaysia and yes, they both got penalized.

That doesn't mean that the stewards won't start their own "investigation" like in Australia. I hope that they will do their job better this time if they are investigating. It is sad to see another driver getting penalised for the incompetency of the stewards.

Doesn't matter if it's an out lap. Remember the time at Monza when Alonso got a penalty for 'blocking' Massa. He was on an outlap and was urgently trying to cross the line before the flag came out. A hot lap is the only valid excuse.Originally posted by morganeryl
oh damn, please let that be an outlap, we've had enough penalties as it is

On the other hand Hamilton got no penalty when he was blocking Kimi in Brazil 2007...

Not if Vettel was on an in lap because he can't argue about being held up himself. He should have just got out the way. Tough though because wasn't much space for him to go elsewhere

There was plenty, Kova was looking everywhere to pass him on the straight (it;s a frame from a video shown on BBC).

That's because the car that may benefit from their ruling could be McLaren ;)

Iam not sure McLaren will protest. They stand to gain nothing .....just more negative publicity. In all honesty anyway, i don't think Kova could have done better than where he is at the moment. So i would say let it be, let it be! Iam fed up by the word steward. It has become such a negative word....every time is penalties, bans, lies, cheats, skudthuggery, maxwhips, Charlie somebody.....just don't wanna hear. Let it be, let it be!

Like in Australia? Wait, didn't the stewards start an "investigation" on their own and didn't look at all the data first then?Originally posted by Lazarus II
Don't McLaren have to actually lodge a complaint for an investigation?

I think a protest from Mclaren is required in this case.
