Vettel is arguably the best driver in F1 atm; it's certainly between him, Alonso and Hamilton. I don't think anyone can seriously deny that.
The question is, how much better can he get than this? Remember he's only 21, he has another 15 years ahead of him in F1. I can see him equaling Schumacher's records tbh.

No he's only ever won in the rain from pole. Anyone can win in chaotic conditions. He's unproven and so still possibly a bit shit.

Is he really? The RB car was seriously quick and he made the most of it.

No it's a joke for a joke thread. For my real views you'd need to look in a real thread. Chinese race thread, for example.

It's early to call him the next Schumacher but he is fantastic and also refreshing as a personality! Well done, Seb!

Vettel is indeed impressive, but as Vettel himself has said, let's wait with comparing him to the Schu.

i think he is the best pilot in rain conditions, but he has a lot to learn... today RBR got the best car on the track, if vettel wasn't there, webber would be the winner, but yes, vettel is aa genious and man!!! he is gonna go far!

Sebastian Vettel is Vettel I., not the next Schumacher. In his own words.

For one, he is a much more laid back, much more fun guy. Good heart, good humour, very nice personality.
This might be already his first WDC year!

Vettel is an excellent driver with an excellent car. Currently Hamilton, Alonso, Räikkönen and Massa are excellent drivers with less than excellent cars. If Red Bull sucks next year, then we´ll have another "new Senna" or "new rainmaster".

Neither Hamilton, Alonso, Räikkönen, Massa - or even Schumacher - were the best by far. There is lots of talent in the grid. It always goes like this. The way drivers are rated mostly depends on their machinery, and results of last race.

Vettel... at least he isn't bad given all he presented so far. How good is yet to see in years to come.

This is such on overreaction... Vettel is obviously a very good driver but we cant say any more than that. Schumacher was a freak of nature and Vettel has a long way to go before he starts to be in the same ballpark.

Not such overreaction.

After all, Vettel has two maiden victories for two different teams within half a year!
There is no one else in the history of F1 who has achieved that.

Well Vettel is for real, very fast and no mistakes that I saw. Amazing for his age. But let's not burden him with the Schumacher tag, for one thing he hasn't done anything unfair yet.

Driving like that in the wet is the mark of a great driver.

Hamilton and Vettel were supreme today.

Kept a cool head as well - rivers of water on the track. Let's not forget that Vettel was 25 seconds ahead of his team mate in the same car at one point.

He had the best car this weekend, and he won with it. I suppose that's what Schumacher did most of the time.

Vettel is fantastic, no doubt but I will still hold that Webber is no slouch either. They are close, but Mark is ending his career whereas Vettel is starting it. A fantastic driver pairing Red Bull have got right now

Oh right, haha. I'd love that to get posted in a topic focused on Lewis Hamilton's rain wins.

for 50 years of F1 only 1 man has won 7 WDC and only one other 5.

Why do people always insist after 1 good race that someone is going to change this pattern?
Gilles Villeneuve for example scored no WDC

It depends on the car also. Damon Hill had a number of great wet weather drives like that also. vettel had the best car today and maybe also last year at monzao so he hasnt performed any magic yet. He just got the job done.

I think we are back to the golden years of F1 when we had prost, mansell and Senna

We, now have Vettel, Lewis and Alonso, these will be fighting each other (car dependent) for the next decade.

I think the rest are a level below, with maybe only Kubica able to join them or an Kimi from the past.

Hamilton spun of 7 times

In your book Massa must have driven a grand chelem in Silverstone 2008

How was LH superb? He started in front of his team mate, finished behind him, and went off several times. Nothing dreadful, but hardly supreme.

If he was in a Red Bull today he'd have been on Vettel's level, easily.

Always amazed how quickly people forget someone if they have one bad race. Hamilton on the wet for the past 2 years = unquestionably the rain king.

We're not talking about the last two years; you said Hamilton was supreme 'today'.

Gascoyne just said that Vettel is the best thing since Alonso, implying Hamilton is not at the same level (which I agree).

Good thread, I was thinking the same during the race.

He was majestic in the rain (again), didn't put a foot wrong and declassed the entire field in the wet.
On top of that he's a charismatic and very likeable young man.

With the right management making sure he ends up in the right cars we could have ourselves a new Schumacher

He did not lap as many cars as Lewis did at Silverstone last year (lapped the entire field but 2 cars). I hardly call this a domination, especially when the teammate is only 10 seconds behind.

I wouldn't have a clue about him being the next Schumacher, but today's race was spotless.
Good on you Sebastian, Great win, a pleasure to watch.

just for the record, I'm a Lewis fan, and I think his performance today was so-so. Lewis also admits it was bad, get over it folks, bring on the next racenext race!

Vettel is Vettel and I really have great expectations on him. Not least because he's been spotted and recommended by a certain M. Schumacher :)
