When I was about 11 or 12 (1981 or 1982)I got given a book called Grand Prix in which all the pictures where illustrated. It had history on all the teams, tracks and a section on some of the drivers with sketches. I remember the section on Gilles and the author saying he was likely to be world champion soon. Anybody else have this book, I'm sure it must be regarded as a collector's book now...unless everyone has a copy!

You surely mean the (large format) book "Grand Prix: The Cars, The Drivers, The Circuits" by David Hodges, Nigel Roebuck and a certain Doug Nye? Got it as a present at the same time and age. Was indeed one of the first of many books I collected.
Jim Bamber did the many drawing, didn't he? I always feel that this is how all books look like if photography had not been invented.
Quite available at 7-12 GBP.
