When doing a search for a BB member, the first result's "Find Member's Posts" overlaps in very irritating fashion with the dropdown menus for the skin and language selectors.

Please to fix.

Also, if a member hasn't posted in a long time, the Search engine throws back "no matches," even though their posts and threads are still around.

Ditto.

Thankya.

The spell check is provided directly by some (but not all) browsers, therefore will default to the language settings for the browser. It isn't a function of the forum software.

Speaking of spell check...I still don't have it using Firefox, but I do with Explorer.

On several occasions now, when checking for a member's posts, the search engine does not upload the most recent one, sometimes even about three or four of the most recent.

The search index is only complied every 15 minutes so very recent posts won't show up.

Hack

Thanks for the reply, kind of.

In my experience, the search engine has not picked up posts that were as much as two days old or more.

Any word on fixing the other "Member search" problems mentioned?

BTW - sorry about making it a separate thread - clearly belonged here.

Logged in this morning and instead of being able to see each post in every thread, I get a directory instead (see pic)

Can't find the setting within my control panel to change it back to what it once was either?

Click on the 'Options' button on the right of the thread title in any thread.

The Display Mode section of the drop-down menu should be set to 'Standard'.

Why aren't topic displayed properly any more? I only get the opening post and the 'titles' of the following posts. Very annoying.

Wouldn't it be a good idea to delete the Website Feedback Forum Archive from the database? All the topics are ancient support issues (2007 and older) and they add no value to board now. Might as well save some megabytes, and it won't hurt with SEO either (might not necessarily benefit either, hey....).

Weird one this: whenever there's a new post in the PC "European Constitution" thread, it always shows that I've read all the posts, even though I haven't

It only happens with that one thread though. Why?

I am sure the IPB platform has an option (or plugin) to automatically resize large posted pictures. Won't be bad to be turned on. There is a fresh example in recent threads of an oversized picture.

Could you change the color of dot in this icon to make it more conspicuous? Black dot on red doesn't stand out: Posted Image vs Posted Image

Don't know if it's been mention somewhere but there are some issues with Firefox 3.6 and IP bulletin boards.

There seems to be an issue with times when quoting posts. I have noticed that when quoting the time the quote gives as the time of the post is different from the actual post time.

That is the equivalent I believe. Unfortunately not every last bit of data could be preserved from the old system and that is one example. I built a lot of custom code to transfer things that would otherwise have been lost, however I'm afraid you will have to set this up again.

Just added Risil as what I thought was a buddy to my list and found I was a complete Billy! Was a nice suprise to see so many people had added me last time I checked.

Oh well, I need new friends anyway.

Got my head around posting pics, still having problems getting my minimal brain cells around multi- quoting. Anyone with a simple teach in out there?

Click on the '+QUOTE' button at the bottom right of each post you want to include. It'll alter colour and change to '-QUOTE'. When you've done this for all the posts you want, click on the 'ADDREPLY' button at the bottom of the thread, and all the posts you selected will then appear as quotes in the reply box.

There seems to be a glitch with the forum software. Whenever someone puts a comma in their thread title, everything from the comma onward is dropped. The only way to see it is in the colored bar immediately above the first post. Here's an example. Is there any way this can be changed?

When a new thread is created, there are two fields relating to titling: Topic Title and Topic Description. While you must enter a topic title, a topic description is optional.

In the example provided, everything after the comma was entered in the Topic Description field when the thread was created. Topic descriptions are only visible, as you say, in the coloured bar immediately above the OP when viewing the thread. In that bar, topic descriptions follow topic titles and are separated from them by a comma. In the thread listing, only what was entered in the Topic Title field is visible. The fields for the example you gave look like this:

Topic Title: Researching Allan Drinkrow
Topic Description: Allan Drinkrow

The resulting text in the coloured bar is: Researching Allan Drinkrow, Allan Drinkrow

If you enter a comma in the Topic Title field, I imagine it will show up in the thread listing but I haven't tested that so I can't say for absolutely certain that is the case. However, this sticky thread in TNF has a comma in it and everything after the comma shows up just fine in the thread listing. I checked those fields:

Topic Title: Official TNF clothing, stickers & badges: here's how to get them!
Topic Description:

The resulting text in the coloured bar is: Official TNF clothing, stickers & badges: here's how to get them!

There is no comma after the exclamation point because one was not entered in the Topic Title field and the Topic Description field is blank.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks for the reply, PB. When I first saw that thread and commented in it, the title was "Research" and the topic description was "Research, Allan Drinkrow". There was a "Research, Pat Hoare" thread posted at about the same time that had the same issue. Twinny may have already fixed it before you had a chance to take a look at it. I took another look and did see other threads that had commas in the thread title, so it may very well be that Syia posted the subject's name in the Topic Description box rather than in the Thread Title box.

Come to think of it, I've only started one thread since the upgrade, so I'd completely forgotten that there are two boxes that can be filled in. I guess I'll have to do something about that... ;)

Sorry if it has been mentioned already.
Not a big issue really but it seems there's a tiny glitch with poll icons. Even when there are no new posts in a thread with a poll, the tiny envelope is displayed open. Like here

Maybe is a missing or duplicate icon in the skin icon set.

It means people have voted since you last went to the thread. There would be a small orange box to the right of the envelope (and to the left of the thread title) which takes you to the first unread post if there are any.

Ah, I see. Thanks for the clarification.
The orange box s OK but it didn't come to my mind there may be votes without posts.

Okay, I obviously don't use this feature often if it has taken this long to realize it, but...

Is the ability to send a PM to multiple recipients gone now?

Yeah. You used to be able to do a "PM to friends' list", and tick off* as many people as you wanted. It seems to be gone now. It would have been handy to have in prepping for the Toronto meet 'n' greet.

*"Tick off" in the sense of "select", although I suppose that could go both ways...

A feature that would enable one to "tick off" selected people and not others would be VERY welcome. :)
