I just wondered why it was that Jack Fairman seems to have driven a works F.1 Cooper at Ain-Diab in 1958, while Jack Brabham was 'relegated' to the F.2 car? This seems a strange move given that Jack had driven the F.1 car for best part of the season.

Doug? Anyone?

Also, two Coopers seem to popped up from nowhere - Picard and la Caze. What's the story on those two?

According to Doug's Cooper bible, Brabham was in contention for the Autocar F2 championship, which before Casablanca was narrowly led by Lewis-Evans. Brabham won the F2 category and thus took the championship. Picard had rented the Walker F2 Cooper for this race.

Another Moroccan in a Cooper F2 was Andre Guelfi, a former Gordini F1 and sports car driver.
He was known by some as "Dede La Sardine"(He was a fish merchant) and later, after marrying French President Pompidou's neice, amassed a large fortune. In the 1990's he was involved in the ELF-Aquitaine scandal involving the IOC, the French and German governments and a large amount of money. He was last heard of in Malta, trying to aviod extradition, jail, or the repayment of millions of Euros!

And according to Motorsport magazine November 1958, Brabham did jump into Fairman's works Cooper for a few fast practice laps.

Thank you all. Just the information I wanted!

Picard's decision to hire a Walker Cooper seems like a very enterprising one..... ;)
