Does anyone have any photos or contemporary report reference to Manfred Ramminger winning at AVUS in his Ferrari 250GTO in 1964, or previous owner Hermann Cordes finishing second there with the car in 1963? These are obviously two of the more obscure GTO owner/drivers of the early-'60s...and pounding round the brick-paved North Wall banking in those cars must have been quite an experience, even for those who did know what they were about...

Manfred Ramminger, the spy, an architect from Krefeld in Germany, who sent in 1967 a stolen sidewinder rocket from a Bundeswehr starfighter via air freight to Moskau?

http://www.rp-online...ach-Moskau.html

Cordes was portrayed in "Oldtimer Markt" 4/2006.

Sorry Doug, the 1964 AVUS race I found doesn't mention a GT race at all (it was F2 may race) so what you're looking for must be the only other Avus race I can find, 28.06.1964 "DMV Avus-Rennen".

Just to add some information from a member who actually saw the GTO (#4115) race and win at Mainz Finthen 1964 driven by Manfred Ramminger.

Avus 30 June 1963 (DMV Avus-Rennen) GTO in silver with German Flag painted across the bootlid. Race#34. There are two very good b/w pictures of this Cordes driven car in 'Die Avus by Axel Kirchner, Delius Klasing Verlag 2008' page 152 and 153. Car came 2nd oa behind Nöckers Lightweight (4868WK).

Internationales Avusrennen 28 June 1964:
1st in class Manfred Ramminger race#36 ,silver car with black stripe (ended at the roof). There is a'bad' picture (2/3 of the car from behind in the hairpin) in
another book: 'Motorsport in Berlin 1947-67' again by Axel Kirchner by Johann Vennekate Verlag 2003 , page 164. I'm not sure if he won also overall, there were also some very quick Abarth 2000 (H Hermann ) and 904 GTS..

And another result for #4115 at the Avus :Internationales DMV Rennen 27 June 1965: 1st in class Werner Lindermann (he bought the car from Ramminger).

Best regards Michael

Not from Axel Kirchner's book, but nearly the same scene:
