This is a bit off the TNF track, but I am seeking information on a shop called "Steam Age" which was in business in London in the mid eighties. It was managed by a lady and specialised in model Stuart Turner steam engines and boilers. Apparently the lady had tapped into a number of skilled model engineers who machined up ST castings for her to sell. It was an extraordinary shop as there were always a large number of magnificent models displayed for sale. I bought a Compound Twin Launch engine and a Mendip boiler and some years later they were installed in a 6 foot long steam launch, which is part of a collection of large model steam boats that is currently being written about for "Model Engineer" magazine.

It sticks in my mind that this business was actually owned by Allen Levy, who married Narisa, the daughter of B. Bira's cousin, Prince Chula and who was the part owner of the wonderful London Toy and Model Museum, near Paddington station. (I often visited the museum and on one visit an E.R.A. was on display).

Does any one recall this shop and if so can they add anything to its background?

I have no recollection of it, but there are a couple of references here, the first one being about Allen Levy's co-owner in the venture, Marcel Darphin.
