Am wondering if Bill Krause was still racing Birdcage #2649 ('60 Riverside winner)
for the '62 Oakland. Also, has there been much discussion about Bill and his exploits
on this forum??

Of course it is - just so long as you've got prior permission from the copyright holder

etceterini , I am sure you will have your "wondering" answered when the new book on "Birdcages" is published. As to Krause on the TNF , I suggest you change the thread title to just Billy Krause. There are a lot other threads on Americans here.

If he'd wanted to start a thread on Krause, I'm sure he would have done so
He's asking a specific question here, and I would imagine is hoping to avoid the thread being swamped by irrelevancies :)

Bill Krause at the Legends of Riverside
Bill Krause was recently honored at the Legends of Riverside.

Cliff:
You don't have to wait until the new Birdcage book comes out. Bill Krause's 1960 Riverside winning car was 2469, owned by George Humiston.

Bill Krause raced it again at Laguna Seca a week later and Pomona in January 1961, before Humiston sold the car to Chuck Sargent.

Bill Krause's Birdcage at Oakland in June 1962 was a different one, 2452 owned by Harry Finer.

Wasn't Mr. Finer with Mercedes in some capacity, like a West Coast Regional Manager or some such?

George Humiston, who sold him the Maserati agency in the spring of 1961, claimed that Harry Finer made his money in the rag trade, i.e. a fabric [clothes?] merchant. Another source claims Finer was a high-end tailor. He may have had additional lines of business, but a M-B agency is a new one for me.
