Stoner is making the best riders in MGP look very ordinary at the moment. The guy is absolutely awesome, and, with all due respect, I can´t see him being beaten in 2010. He is doing things on track that I´ve never seen anyone else do, not even Rossi in his heyday. The way he tightens his corners by drifting the rear end while still at maximum lean is nothing short of breathtaking.
It was always going to happen that someone would come along one day and take over from Rossi, and I think that has now happened. Valentino, great rider that he still is, looked like an old man out there today compared to Casey.

It died for me as well...other TV channels worked fine, so definately a Eurosport ( 1 and 2) problem.

Many of the streams require a software download, all the web streams have been cut off at requaest of copyright holder.

Casey was fantastic, but regarding Rossi - you could also see him as someone that has never really come to terms with the Valencia track and on top of that turned down the intensity level a couple of notches after winning the Championship.

Oh well. That sucks. Seems so unnecessary, those who have access to a normal broadcast are not likely to bother with those weird streams anyway. It can only be good for them since many of the series you can find there might create an interest that makes you buy it for your cable. But that is OT :)

EDIT: HAd the wrong quote in there, made post a bit hard to understand :)

No. He is on Rossi's bike.

This is an article on crash.net or somewhere that I read yesterday that says it's slightly different but similar to the Tech 3 bikes.

Yep but it's about the quali and race. :)

QP
Colin Edwards 1:33.085
Ben Spies 1:33.539
Diff = 0.454

:D

Woody's having a blast. That's about all I can tell ya, giddy.

I think poor Valentino might be in tears by the end of June. :well:

Just dowload the software. I'm using TVU play and Veetle and watching two streams. Hell, if I didn't use the software I'd miss virtually every EPL, La Liga, and Serie A game each weekend.

It looks spectacular but we don't know whether riding like that is actually quicker or slower on the Yamaha. They might very well have 'scrubbed' such slides with electronics.

Yes great job done by Spies can't argue that. But 2010 will be a different story ofcourse, and getting those last couple of tenths to reach the top will be a bit more difficult but so far an outstanding job and a hell of a lot better then Toseland. :)

But damn Stoner again pushed that Ducati over the boundry's of what is possible. Ducati would be lost without him really, but Hayden pulled off another good quali as well he for sure is doing a much better job then Melandri last year.

Toseland started 2nd for opening race in Qatar 2008? finished 6th?

but yeah agree, you kinda expect Ben Spies to perform better in the long run, I certainly think he'll get beyond Colin Edwards in a very short time...

No need to compare to Yamaha but it should be said that Stoner's riding is not only spectacular but also extremely demanding considering what others can do with the beast.

Hayden is no quitter and he gets my respect for never quitting and keeping his head up when he was slow early in the year, was slower than Kallio early, fought off Kallio, and now fights with Colin and Dovi as best of the rest.

spot on, on all counts carbon

there's just not a rider out there that has the balls to explore the ducati boundaries. what nicky said a year ago, whatever ducati is paying casey, it's just not enough.

re: rossi, my 2c: with all the moves between the teams and around the riders, next year will be his toughest challenge ever and if he dares to go to ducati, he will not have enough time in his career to ride that ducati to casey's level and he'd be better off if casey is riding a different bike. if he goes to ducati he better pray that dorna makes a major tech or tyre change that would make the manufacturer playing field level to zero.

Corsi was great in qualifying for 125cc's, first ruining Simon's lap and after that destroying Cortese's lap who was on the pace right after Simon.

Well it wont be the first time Spies will go head-to-head with a talented rider as a teammate. Against Mladin, he was just plain calm, as he always seems to be. And Mladin was more than capable of beating Spies on his day. He just doesn't seem to be affected much by pressure.

I think how the relationship ends up will be more up to how Edwards deals with Spies, and not the other way around. It'll be especially interesting if Spies starts outperforming him on a regular basis in 2010.

Tex 3 has to adopt Tex the Franco-Texan armadillo as its mascot. It's fated.

Tomorrow, I'm most interested in the the 250s. The last 250s... It looks like Aoyama will have just enough to clinch it but Simoncelli has, unusually, enhanced his reputation even as he's probably lost his title.
Excellent qualifying from Wilairot.

2 - Rossi - 1:33.460
3 - Edwards - 1:33.744
4 - Hayden - 1:33.820
5 - Spies - 1:33.823
6 - Lorenzo - 1:33.825

Looking close from P2 downwards.

Stoner is just way ahead pacewise, if he doesnt make a mistake he will dominate this race as well.

I can´t see Edwards matching Spies in 2010. Too old and too slow. Colin, as good a rider as he is, has found his comfort zone and won´t be bothered trying to push things just to put Spies in his place. Can´t see him even beating Ben today TBH.

I think it's also important to remember that the animosity between Colin and JT started when JT went behind Colin's back before this season started and pilfered his crew chief. Seems to have come back and bitten him in the ass, in the end. :p

I agree with that. Spies's main competition should come from the Honda's next year while the top 4 will be out of reach but he will mix it with a few of them if they have an off weekend.

In todays race, if Stoner gets out of the first corner leading, he will probably pull out around a second a lap in the first few laps, but more likely Pedrosa will hold him up for a few corners. That guy is amazing and always instantly on the limit.

All the decent racing in GP today will be from second or third back, providing Stoner doesn't do anything stupid. The TV directors are usually pretty good at focusing on the battles rather than the leader (unlike F1).

I will be anchored just above Ben's pit box, sending happy vibes downward! Gotta go find my earplugs, tho'. . . .

Looking forward to the races today, I guess Simon may win the 125, I reckon Simoncelli will get the 250 but Aoyama will get the championship (hopefully), honourable mention to my mate William Dunlop on a 9 year old Honda in the 250's. He won on that bike at the NW200 and the UGP but it about 9 years old and 20mph down. He just wanted to take part in the last 250 GP as he loves the wee strokers.

Casey will take the motogp I guess and hopefully Dani can annoy him for at least a bit.

I don't know, doesn't it. The article certainly "read" as if it was a third Tech 3 bike with some development parts. That doesn't sound like Rossi's bike in that case.

Oh, ye of little faith. . . .

Fun to read predictions about Ben from last year--start with post 48. Please do note macz's prophecy (post 78). And then remember that he's said Ben will finish fifth today! :D

(I'm hedging a bit--I'll go as far as saying he'll go top 7.)

Don't worry, Andy--I haven't lost my Vale mojo--but he's done what he's needed to this year, and I sort of feel like Ben is my adopted two-wheeled nephew! Mary and Maio and Tom and Giulio and everyone else at Yamaha Italia have done so much for macz this year--they're incredible people, and it's such a great feeling actually *knowing* someone on this grid! What a kick in the ass, eh?

However, I do promise to give Vale a kiss for you tonight. I hope.

The mistake didn't really cost him though, unless you mean it brought a little doubt into his mind. Didn't look that way on the last lap. After the press conference though it seemed like he was resigned to second.
