SCUD: get a friend to share an X2010. you can use that to b-spec your way up. Once ur Bspec driver (or yourself) reaches a certain level (dunno what it is) GT5 will gift you the x2010.

I hate bspeccing so I have no shame in using an X2010 to maul everything.

One oddity with GT5 is that once you 'borrow' a car and not change out of it, it won't drop off even if your friend stops sharing it. So I was Bspeccing the enduros at night with guaranteed wins.

I read that Cameron wants to tax GT5 cars' trading in the UK. Is that true?

:rotfl:

It's a good job we don't pay for our fuel in the game... it'd cost me a fortune!!! That's why I don't have a real car and am stuck with the (rather fine if you ask me) GT5 versions!!!

I just noticed if car is available for sale you cannot buy RedBull 2010x before A- or B-spec at level of 40. On the otherhand I just completed Vettel Challenge and got another 2010x. sigh. :p

What's the real deal with B Spec mode? You don't even drive the car? Well, my bad. I finished GT3 but it's been a long time since and I've forgotten the basics.

I am just wondering today why I would do the B Spec? I guess that this mode was kept only to entertain Jeremy Clarkson.

i would say it is a little like having a job at GT5, and getting some other guy to do the job for you while you get all the money+exp.

plus the prize cars are better than A-spec.

I preferred the GT4 implementation of B-Spec, where you could pit and let your B-Spec driver take over for you, whilst you moved on the pit wall and instructed him on what to do (or not if you chose to)... it was great for the Enduros as you could set stints. Now it's a game mode that I've not gone anywhere near, because I'm just not that fussed about the prize cars to want to have to go through the boring B-Spec mode!

B-Spec of GT5 is like team chief/manager mode. It's not just put driver to go do circles and claim money and experience.
You have to train new driver/drivers from slower and less demanding events to more difficult ones. Eventually you have to put several drivers to do their shifts in endurance races.
In early levels is necessary to push driver by telling pace he drives and tell to cool down if he "jacquesvilleneuves" into walls and other cars. Experienced drivers need less guidance, but time to time they need some whipping too.

Anyway, I miss GT4's option to speed up B-spec, since no way I let them race 24h PS3 being on. Hopefully some patch will add ability to save during race.

why not do both? set up a new profile on your ps3 and start a mew game on that, and wait until a patch pr some good fortune comes along, on your present file, gets that working again.

or maybe until PD decide to let trading/buying >1,000,000Cr cars happen again.

I'd do what Scud said Dave.
Make a new user in the PS3 XMB and start a new game. You won't lose your progress so far and you should still have the opportunity to gift the cars to the other account if you want. (as long as they're < mil of course!)
Getting the RudeBull car is a bit of an anti-climax. it does indeed make races 'a walk in the park', but it's a total bitch to control!

www.gmail.com - takes about a minute, about 3 mins to create a PSN account on the new address, and away you go.

I setup a second account so I could send cars to my 9 year-old, to help him get started, it worked a treat.

Ah ok, thanks. Yes I think that I remember passing the car to the AI for (quite) a while on that mode. Although I think it was with GT3, not sure.

Going to look if there are some good saves with Xploder or something like that. Still the quickest way to share..

That's interesting, however I expected much more to happen with GT5 in terms of events and stuff like that. The creepy interface doesnt help either.

Ahh yes that's been covered before at that track its worth 3 tenths so let's see add 3 tenths to all the top ten times. That still makes the guy in first place (which as I'm reading it eddskill?) 3 tenths faster than the guy in 11th (assuming he's not cutting that is)
They flippin' smashed it out of the water with 1'13's ...I think they mismatched the tyres to Coulthard. They should've done comfort mediums or even hards for the gamers and done a preliminary competition online to fetch some drivers.

I think I'd prefer to see some of the (IMO criminally) ommitted tracks.

I'd love to be able to change the wheels on the standard cars though. (My red Esprit just doesn't look as good without those shiny 'five spokes')

These are my two most-wanted additions...

Midfield Raceway, Seattle, Motegi... basically all the tracks omitted in GT5 that were in GT4!!
And as for wheels, I'd like ones for standard cars, and also removal of the restrictions on certain wheel types you get on premium cars (every car has a different list of wheels available.. why not let them ALL be there?)

Haha but it would be very worth it!!!

I wonder if this will become an iRacing-type project where updates come at least every year, adding more and more to the overall package until the PS3 comes to the end of it's life, where then we get the summation of the GT5 package updated for PS4 as GT6?

Despite it being nearly a year since release now, and other titles coming out in it's wake (DiRT, F1 etc.) I always find myself coming back to GT5, even if it's just for a quick run around the 'Ring in a hatchback or something! The handling is superb, and the depth of cars available (even though tons of them are Skylines and Mx-5's :p) means that you're rarely stuck for something new to drive... the Photomode is a real timekiller as well, giving you a break from the actual driving and letting you sit back and enjoy the visual side of the game.

And what about the DLC? Anything?

Anyone?

Anywhere?

the Main features are :-

Simplified interior views added to all standard cars.
User control of the weather change feature.
Settings sheet which allows you to save multiple car settings.
New Spec 2.0 opening movie.
Improved UI response and usability.
Replay forward/rewind.
Mid-race save feature for endurance races.
Expanded online lounge features (narrowing down car types, shuffle races…).
Expanded Photo Travel features (you can now take photos of cars together with your avatar).
Added “NASCAR Pit Scene” stage to Photo Travel.
Added 11 new 2011 NASCAR models.
Added the Nissan GT-R N24 Schulze Motorsport (the car in which Kazunori contested the 2011 Nurburgring 24 Hours).
Improved physics and artificial intelligence.
Support for the Logitech G25/G27 steering wheel.

The big one for me is Mid-race saves in endurance races, I finally get a chance to do LeMans, without leaving my PS3 on for about a months, and stopping anyone else in the house from using it.

I'll probably stick the game in the console right now in order to catch up on the latest patches and get ready for a very long GT upgrade process. However I'm not too excited if at all by the news. "mid-race save feature for endurance races" is not gonna make the mode more accessible. So far I've only enjoyed visiting a few lobbies and focusing on the licenses. I have to ask: is there no co-op mode on the endurance races? If there isn't that would mean that one of the greatest franchise/developer in the gaming history is very slow to understand the market.
I also would like a track editor, they were able to do that 20 years ago.

Not sure what you mean by "not gonna make the mode more accessible". It just means you won't have to do a 24 hour stint/leave the PS3 on for 24 hours, which even I as an ardent GT fan (having owned and played them all to death) was not willing to do.

Co-Op mode? I'm assuming you mean A-Spec/B-Spec? No. I still suspect that the modes were split in GT5 to bolster the size of the offline game, I found it a handy feature in GT4.... but that game was somewhat bigger!!

Track editor? You've got one! It not that comprehesive I know, and some more variations in the backgrounds wouldn't go amiss, but with a little application you can turn out some surprisingly good tracks.

Gran Turismo and other 'simulators' are more about the individual pursuit to me, rather than a communal game that requires various people to play to get the full benefit. GT5 is about you, the car and the road, and how to get round it best in one of the myriad of cars available to you. Unfortunately even mental GT fans are unable to find the time to complete full 24-hour races, even with friends (something I have seen done) and the mid-race save is a godsend for us.

The course editor is not a free-for-all track maker like we would all want, but as Tony has said above me, you can make some excellent tracks with it! And the tracks follow natural contours like many of the classic circuits we all miss did.

If the game was just about cars there would not be any AI vehicles, that would be tragic. Although bumping into the opponents to pass them is a bit of an old story.

More important is the free car we get if Vettel is crowned champion at Suzuka. Guess which car?

You mean the mega 2.0 update?

I played it today, the physics feel much nicer now, there's more control over wheelspin and oversteer now, but it's also more demanding, because you have to pre-empt slides a bit more and the track edges seem to have lost more grip.

Honestly I wasn't expecting much from the update but it's made driving even more pleasurable.
