"Needless to say, anybody out there with anything to do with Ian Walker, please don't hesitate to get in touch... "

Well, way back in the fifties myself and a couple of other young lads had cycled from North London up to Silverstone for a clubbie (NSCC?) and were comfortably seated on the safety bank at Copse watching the racing,(something we often did at low key events) while on the inside of the corner were a group of marshals, and Ian Walker in civvies. After a while we saw Walker speak to one of the marshals who came across the track and told us to get off the banking and get back to the spectator area, which we did, where upon, Walker crossed the track and erected his shooting stick and sat exactly where we had been. What was said about him I dare not repeat on open forum.

Is this the sort of anecdote you are looking for?

I understand that this is the "other" original Gold Bug which was sold to Japan in, or around, 2007; unfortunately this information did not really make it into the (mostly excellent, apart from the avaition howlers) Ian Walker book by Julian Balme.

In understand that the Japanese owner is a rather private person and therefore we might not see the car in Europe again for some time- although we all know what happened with GT40 1047. Wouldn't it be nice to see both the original Gold Bugs, the IWR Coupe and the replica all on the same grid?
