This thread is about the NASCAR Pocono race scheduled to go off today in about an hour.

Please keep the trolling to yourself.

Looks like the weather has indeed cleared. Not sure if the jet dryers can get it dry in time to go green as scheduled, around 2:15 PM ET.

Hmm, weather radar shows a clearing, but TV images show the places is socked in with fog!

Interesting discusion on JPM's pit speeding penalty at Indy. ESPN had that particular pit stop timed as the fasted on pit road of the entire race, by .2 seconds.

Hmmm, coincidence? Methinks not.

Driver introductions got underway about 15mins ago, and there'll be a competition caution at lap 20

Any streams on this? I'm in Portugal and my slingbox is acting goofy.

In the NASCAR.com chat room, the hosts are saying no green flag until after 3 pm EDT, probably closer to 3:30

Sky Sports coverage is on in the UK, and it looks very foggy/misty, and the track looks reasonably wet

Any indication as to whether they expect more rain today?

I've been asking around on the live chat (http://www.nascar.co.../chat/chat.html) and they say this track takes the longest to dry. :(

Looks clear on the radar, but in the summer the athmosphere is really unstable and showers and T-Storms can literally "pop up."

Next to no banking. Also, Pocono is basically in the mountains--the track is at ~500m elevation.

Sounds like Malaysia then. Worth remembering as well that though it looks clear now, obviously it's (possibly) another 45-60mins til the green flag, and then another (maybe) 3 hours or so for the race itself, so obviously rain may pop into shot in that time period.

More like 4 hours for the race. Lap times are almost a minute.

You know about 15 mins ago I saw that a) the track was mostly dry and b) there were street sweeper type vehicles running brushes over the fingers of moisture on the inside of a turn.

Weird. But promising.

Note that they usually have to get the cars on track, and then have an extended parade lap sequence while they run the jet dryers up and down pit road a couple of times.

This time maybe they had time to jet dry pit road separately since they're apparently just wheeling the cars onto pit road now.

Note I'm watching "A Beautiful Mind" right now and only switching over to ESPN on commercials.

Pitroad still looks pretty wet. Could be even longer before they go racing.

UGH. Weepers. That's the issue, the track is dry enough but water is welling up through cracks from the saturated ground.

Yeah noticed that myself. If it dries up weatherwise they might be ok, but I think if it rains again they might be pushing it in terms of getting the full race in today (as I'd imagine if it rains again, especially if it's heavy, that the weeper problem would become worse still even if the track became dry again).

Dryers still out as it's only sprinkling. For those in the UK, they've confirmed that if the race either doesn't start, or starts but fails to reach halfway, it'll be live on Sky Sports Xtra at 5pm tomorrow.

Edit: Just shown the radar on screen, there's a line of rain, with a heavy sting in the tail of it, which may hit the track, but as the line is only thin, it may miss the track. The weepers (along with the rain itself) seem to be the main problems at the moment though.

With a lack of lights at the track, they're even more restricted in terms of when they can start the race, as they can't just run it into dusk and dark.

Still raining, but definitely more than just sprinkles. The weepers look little different to how they looked an hour ago, so not looking too good at the moment for a start anytime soon

If we had been lucky it would have stayed dry and then rained 1 lap after halfway.

Instead we will probably have this rain delay and 500 miles of Pocono....

If you feel the race will bore you, there is a very very simple, sensible, logical solution. Don't watch it.

I will watch, just Pocono is well known for being up there as being one of the worst ovals in NASCAR in terms of racing, one race there would be fine but two is bad.

Rubens to JPM on twitter 6 hours ago: rubarrichello@jpmontoya suerte gordo...tell them you want to race wets on the oval
