Yes , Bob , there's normally 6-8 entered in the CMRC events in the mixed 200 twins , 250 singles and 350 ' Goldie ' races

Two from page 1 well worth a re-post.

Dear old Dennis on the Duke at Ballaugh, a beautiful shot and the one on his Honda when he made his comeback in the '90s, I think

What....6-8 saxon framed ducati's?? When I rode it, it was the only one I ever saw. There were always plenty of 250 Dukes about but all the ones I saw had standard Ducati frames. It was my belief that when Mick Walker marketed these as club racers he commissioned Saxon to build the frames, and only sold about a dozen of them.

Nice work, Mick.

No, Bob, he meant 250 Ducatis as such. If you go into the members lists you should be able to get onto Renzo's id and isolate all his posts. Poor bugger was struggling near the end, but his spirit lasted well and I like to think that the contact with his friends on the forum here meant a great deal to him. For sure, we were all rocked when he finally packed it in. I have a 350 Honda racer along the lines of Renzo's, even down to the Peter Keyte tank and seat, except mine has a GT750 front brake (and is no doubt faster    ), so we shared a few smiles along that line. A good man gone too soon.

Nice post Glen
Apparently (if I remember correctly!!?) the honda pic was used in Classic Racer at the time.
Good old Dennis. :|

Well I bought it from him in 1975 and it was already a few years old then. I don't think many of these bikes were built, so I'm guessing it was from about 1970. Beautifully made Saxon frame, the little engine would rev to 10,500revs. I sold it on to a man from Surrey who raced it for a year then I never saw it again. Are there any being ridden in Classic bike races these days?

Thanks for the pic. Yeah, nice and long a low, perhaps even lighter? Was it a desmo motor ?

Do ya know, I cant remember.......I don't think it was. I think it was a mach II motor that had been worked on really well. Dennis's dad had made a couple of minor mods to it, one of which I would recognise if I saw it again. After riding the Duke I went on to ride TZ's and then big singles before having a surprise seeing Dennis re-emerge into racing after something like a 15 year break. When I saw him with that beautiful looking Honda it made me think about changing over to Classic racing, which then made me wish I still had his old Duke. Not sure if I could afford to buy it back now though.....or even afford to go racing again.
And thank you to the people who have sent me info on posting photo's. I'll have to look into it. I have many pics of Brands in the 1970's, and a good many of the riders I can no longer identify

After a long time out of this site I come back for a quick look to keep the touch and I find this sad new.

I enjoyed a lot reading the experiences lived by Dennis and I was able to serve him in a humble way. I managed to send him a copy of Continental Circus's Laperrousaz and he told me it was the first time he watched it since 1972, just a few days before one of his rides in the Manx TT, and I found him very pleased and I felt honoured with his sincere and deep gratitude.

My deepest condolences to his family and friends.
