Hi everyone

I have posted this picture from my autograph collection of Brian Gubby in his Lotus 24, which I believe is at 1965 British Grand Prix. It shows the number 26 for which he ran the car with during qualifying.

Regards

I found this one on my computer, slightly better quality and with a logo in the corner I don't recognise.

I'm probably way off base here, but judging from the armco in the background that looks more like Enna than Silverstone to me - Mr Gubby was there, but his car was numbered 34...

Look like Mr Nye and I were typing at precisely the same moment! I guess maybe he just didn't change the numbers before shipping the car...

It's Richard Copeman (aka raoul leDuke)'s website (which at the moment after the last upgrade is barely readable, BTW).

I'm not entirely sure it was on this forum, but I remember discussing that Mr. Gubby thinks that this is the British GP (the only photo he has of that event, he says), but the general consensus was that the photo was not taken during that meeting.

That was '65 when he did not record a practice time-shown as 'entry withdrawn in 'black book'
was #26 at Enna in 1964-recorded time 1-20.0 but non started due to practice accident.

And when we are already looking in the 'black book': Gubby has race number 26 in Enna Pergusa too. The race was on 16.August 1964.(In 1965 the racenumber 34 at Pergusa)
Chassis number 24-943.
But eagle-eyed DCN saw the rusty Armco, which led him to the Mediterrenean GP??

Thanks everyone for the info.

I sent this photo along with others to Mr Gubby, with event details on the reverse asking him to change them if they were incorrect. He gave further details on some of the photos, but left this one as the British GP 1965. I must admit I never noticed the armco in the background, but it sure does not look like Silverstone, unless of course it is away from the circuit area?

Dear Doug,
without 'currying favour', I learned from you to look at photographs 'properly', looking not only for the obvious, but also the details, and the whole picture with surroundings,
i.e. the Armco...

So no white stick--only a (10x) magnifying glass..
Regards Michael
