Wasn't bad actually, I'd never heard Nigel Roebuck speak before despite reading him for years!
Is a pretty leisurely old podcast, especially compared to the now-defunct Autosport version which seemed to have a bit more energy.
Once little criticism... when the main guy is doing his introduction, all the other mikes are still mixed up.
So there is some guy with extremely heavy breathing all through it, coughing in the background and what sounds like someone knocking on the door, opening it then being shooo-ed away...

yeah it's a fairly relaxed podcast, i think they're finding their feet with this newfangled interweb business, the intro fella actually says
"welcome if you're listening on the internet or if you've downloaded it to one of those little box things......."
ipod?
there's another couple in here.
i agree they could be a bit more "high energy" but i think that would kill at least two of them kinda nice to have a leisurly feel in some ways, Roebuck did a night on Ch4 called petrol torque in '96, it was a cracker, still have it on VHS.
It had the same feel, bunch of old duffers sitting around shooting the breeze and knocking back the vino, really chilled, really good.

Talking about Abu Dhabi: "The play is always more important than the theatre, and the play wasn't very good."

wattie's not exactly mellowing with age is he?
Yeah, it's great.
Quite liked him cutting down Roebuck about Abu Dhabi!
His Kimi comments were great too.

He sounds quite posh actually.
Looks as if there are a few drinks around the table.
And plenty of smokers!

It sounds like there's a 40 a day 70 year old bloke just woke up in the background
I think that's Roebuck if the wheezing is any indicator!

Nigel talks too slowly as a presenter, he sounds like he is doing the Radio 4 shipping forecast

That's not the point man, it's Nigel Roebuck!

And man, someone in that room has bad breathing.

Is it Roebuck doing the impressions?!?
EDIT: And it is a bit naughty. I thought it was Lauda first time around.

You sure?
I'm sure I heard Roebuck chuckling away as whoever it was did their Lauda impression.

I was fully sure it was the real Lauda and was about to post complaining about why he spent most of the show completely silent.

Yeah, it's really funny. I mean he's arrogant if he doesn't ask anyone's opinion, and he's a buffoon if he does. Coudln't really win could he?
To be honest I think it only makes sense, he asked two very different types of guys the same question to see what they thought, to offer him something to ground his own opinion against.
Indeed Mosley is far from the first to voice such an opinion actually. One Matt Bishop did the same thing in 2007...
http://www.autosport...cle.php/id/1049
I don't remember Roebuck and co huk hukking out loud then, and if such a formerly prominent journalist was to voice openly such an opinion, what is so funny about Max checking other journalists for *their* views on the matter?

Wow, I'd missed this thread until now.
The recording level's too high, but I love the less hyped approach of MotorSport.

I had no idea Roebuck was such an excellent mimic!
First Lauda then Mosley. Very funny indeed.
I want to hear his Mansell next, apparently it is awesome!
