I am impressed, Sauber/Kamui doing it with pure pace.

Congratulations KK!!!

it would be a farce if he doesnt' have a F1 drive next year.

Can he now get a Japanese sponsor behind him to secure a seat for next year? He has to seize the opportunity when it's there.

Panasonic maybe?

Sony?

A lot of good Japanese companies that could jump on his bandwagon.

Good to see he got a result in a fair fight rather than just by having fresher tyres.

TBH I think Koba is better as he is much cleaner driver and better overtaker.

And btw, he has got to a podium today without any strategic delights.

He's alongside Grosjean. Let's hope Romain behaves this time

Heh. Luckily he got a good start this time and stayed ahead of the Grosjean-related action :p

Kamui is as good as Perez.

Its hard to argue with that. I thought Perez would show KK up when he joined but Koba has done a great job, he's just been unlucky whereas Sergio's qualy performance's have allowed him to take a risk with strategy, today things finally went his way. Very happy for the lad.

Great result today, very emotional watching him on the podium with the Japanese crowd calling out his name in unison. At last, the podium that his pace on many Saturdays before demonstrated he could get.

Sky did two interviews with Monisha after quali and the race. She's got a great poker face. They were asking her how she could drop him after he'd outqualified his teammate yet again and whether a podium would guarantee his seat. I got the impression from her answer that it would probably take more than a podium for him to race next year.

Shame, especially when guys like Grosjean are almost guaranteed to race for a good team next year.

Sauber team is just superb, better than Mercedes considering their limited resources, and I really wish Kamu can stay, but if not, perhaps next year Lotus and to partner Kimi would be an option. (Depends whether Gro will survive the storm).

Kobayashi is too inconsistent, I think that's why Sauber has doubts to retain him. I mean, one race he sits top 5, whilst the next race he qualifies and finishes outside of the top ten for no apparent reason. Of course there's no guarantee that an Alguersuari would do better, but I can understand Sauber wants a fresh face after three years with Kamui. That's also why he's not good enough for a near top team like Lotus.

Maybe so, but team has a great momentum they would loose by having two new drivers. Kamu can support their effort, and besides, I do not see too many famous names knocking on the door (yet). Who would replace him? If Sauber can raise their performance a notch higher yet next year, they will be a desirable team to drive for.

:rotfl: And Grosjean is better? One race he qualifies well, then the next 3 he takes himself out at corner one.

I honestly think he's just been more unlucky than Perez.

I hope he can rack up a great string of results to end his season. Maybe that'll get him a seat again. After all, it's not the first time Kobayashi has been under pressure.
