Hello

A search on Ferrari 330P4 + scrutineering weight led me to this forum, where I´ve read all posts I could find concerned with 330P´s, but I haven´t been able to find anything about scrutineering weights.

I´m especially interested in the scrutineering weight / starting weight of cars at 24h Le Mans 1949-1971 and would be very happy if anybody can help me since Google isn´t very helpfull in this respect. So if you know the measured weight of a car of the period at Le Mans or know where I can find such data I´ll be happy to hear.
Apparently the ACO made a technical file of participating cars since 1959, but except for the 1965 scrutineering weight I have in a book, I have found nothing like it anywhere. The net seems empty on the subject.

I´d like to compare some "real" weights, since fx. the official weights given for Ferraris apparently has little to do with actual racing weights in long distance racing. Fx. the 330P3 dry weight is stated to be anywhere from 707 to 792kg and the 330P4 799kg "full", while both have been said to be close to 1000kg at Le Mans.
(THe 330P2´s at the 1965 LM weighed 950 to 1010kg at scrutineering compared to the official dry weight of 820kg)

At one time I wished write a book on Le Mans, focused on the cars, their appearance, data and performance, but I´ve dropped some time ago. It´s too much work, and perhaps there are also enough books about Le Mans!? So I´ll just call myself really nerdy ;-) (unless an enthusiastic co-writer suddenly appears, perhaps...)

That´s great, thanks!

It´s funny that the Dino was so heavy, the scrut. weight of the 1965 166P was only 700kg.

It seems that the Alan Mann Fords had been seen to by the weight watchers, while the Holman & Moody´s hadn´t ;)

...snf the 1967 Chapparals is supposed to have been even lighter.

Do you also have weights for other 1966 cars?

I have the full 1966 scrutineering list I believe, though I must confess I have not had cause (yet) to compare it to the entry list to see if it really does include every car. Other specific weights of representative cars include:

Ecurie Ford France 4.7-litre Ford GT No 15 - 1,118kg

Scuderia Filipinetti 4.7-litre Ford GT No 14 - 1,096kg

Maranello Concessionaires' GT Catgory-winning Ferrari 275GTB/C No 29 - chassis 09035GT - 1206kg

Porsche's 906 No 30 - 712kg

Ditto No 31 - also 712kg (which must prove something about Porsche factory preparation?)

Ditto No 32 - ALSO 712kg

Ditto No 33 - 692kg

Ditto No 34 - 692kg (Veuillet's entry)

Maranello's Dino 206S No 36 - 738kg

NART Dino 206S No 38 - 722kg

Matra-BRM No 41 - 889kg

Ecurie Savin Calberson Alpine A210 1300 No 44 - 691kg

Austin-Healey No 48 - 722kg

Ditto Sprite No 49 - 720kg

J-L Marnat Marcos GT No 50 - 628kg

Ditto No 52 - 661kg

NART ASA RB613 No 54 - 769kg

Alpine M64 No 56 - 668kg
