Could anyone knows why Edgar Berney (Bizzarrini P538, #10) drive another way? What happened, who knows?

Also, I'm looking for any photos from 1966 Le Mans with Bizzarrini P538. Please, post.

Here are shots that I have:

It looks to me by the marks on the road, that he has spun when starting.

The report in Motor Sport magazine says that the Bizzarini "spun away from the start".

This is exactly correct. Too much throttle, full opposite lock to try to save it, and a spin of 270 degrees makes it appear that he turned the wrong way off of the starting grid. Skid marks on the road confirm this.

Dear members,

Jack Koobs den Hartog wrote a book specifically on the P538. It has been published this year.
No commercial connections with but I thought the members ought to know.

Ciao, Olaf

Bumping this old thread as, just over thirty seconds into this clip, at the top of the screen, I noticed the Bizzarrini pirouetting in the middle of the pack.

These cars all look so familiar to me as I have 43rd scale models of 52 out of the 55 starters.

The #24 Serenissima and the two A.S.As. These have been produced as 43rd scale kits but are simply impossible to find nowadays.

Five years on from that last post, I can finally say, I'VE GOT THEM ALL.

1966b.jpg

There is a large range of model manufacturers here, so inevitably there is variation in size, even though they are all ostensibly 1/43rd.  I think the 13 Fords come from about 6 different manufacturers.  The C.D. Panhards (51, 52, 53) are actually plastic toys.  The shapes are good but they are a bit on the big side.

There are probably upwards of a dozen or so that have been 'converted' into 1966 cars despite being originally based on a livery from another race. The two little ASAs at the back are resin kits that I was lucky to find being reproduced in France, while the #24 Serenissima is a highly messed about with Ferrari 365P2 that I made myself.

It's certainly been a labour of love and I shudder to think what the whole lot must have cost me, but it's nice to finally complete the set.

Top man, Barry for such dedication. ISTR that the  sadly  long deceased old journo Mike McCarthy had a similar passion for full grids of something like the Carrera Panamerica entries.  Nothing wrong with having an interest in some thing.....

Well done,

Roger Lund

Well done Barry, that is an excellent piece of work and the Serenissima looks very good.

That's magnificent, Barry.

(I do like the way you've put the No.9 car centre stage...)
