Of course,
And just say the Bond Healey WAS to be reverted back to it's glory days as it was in 1969, with the not so "wide??" rims, I'm quite sure the Healey lads would absolutely love to have it, or any other lovely old healy run alongside them in say races for the Prod Sports categories, ie Groups Sa/Sb ie pre 1970. Such as is curent for the big events like Phillip Island or Sandown.
It is a Group T car after all, in todays CAMS parlance.

It wouldnt be right to have it run in with the much later post 1970 more modified Group Sc cars. There would be no other lovely Healey's for it to race amongst.

At least one Swallow Doretti ran in Marque Sports. I remember a black one [Lorraine Hill?], and maybe Gloria Strachan [spelling?] also drove a Doretti?

The ex Ross Bond Healey is restored back to 1968 bodywork - no flares, no pumped guards, 6in minilites. It last raced at Bathurst in the "All Austin Healey" races in 1998 and 1999, driven by Richard Carter. These races were part of the 1998 and 1999 Bathurst 1000 events.

And the late Peter Brock drove the ex Ross Bond Healey with in car cameras for a televised promo lap at Bathurst in 1998.

Unfortunately, CAMS Historic handicapping regulations mean that Healeys can't run webers in Group Sb - despite the fact that ALL Healey 3000's racing in Sydney in the 1969 season ran triple webers.

As it was, so it shall be, unless it's a Healey......

This sounds somewhat familiar. Cars racing to different regs that they raced to in period. Sad really as they are not true historic.

It does say "racing". Do you know of 6 Dorettis that were racing?

I have handed my Doretti over to my son, David. That one has not raced.

Ahhhh the English Language....no, I meant I know of only 6 standard Dorettis in Aus....nothing to do with racing....although my friend did get to circulate at Albert Park in a parade.

So....any more info on the Racing Dorettis??? Pictures??

short notice, dont know why it has not been mentioned, but this coming weekend,
HRCC Qld are running their annual Winter Historic meeting at Morgan Park Warwick, some 270 cars, and in the events for Production Sprts Cars, classes are for Group T ( true historics) and Group S Prodsports, with 7 of the Group T cars of the 12 or so now logbooked by CAMS, running, including Superbee, the Mingay Datsun 2000, Dennis Hawkins ( Roy Davis) an ex USA factory works Datsun 2000, the Paul Wintar ( Barry Campbell) Colin Dodd's MG Spares Midget, Damien Meyer's Midget.

The Doc ( Iain Corness aka Superbee)is rumoured to be in attendance for the weekend!

Here are a few question for the marque sports specialists?

Was the 1275 cc MG Midget introduced into Australia in late 67, early 68?

Is this a photo of the production based MG Midget that Skelton raced in 1968? Or did he race it also in 1967?

Was this the first production Midget in the country - originally red but then painted black?

Did Skelton race both his own (black) Midget and the lightweight Midget in 1968? Did they ever race at the same meeting?

Was Skelton's black Midget sold to Les Carne? If so when was this? I've seen photos of Carne with his white Midget racing in 1968.

When did BMC (or BLMC) stop racing the Lightweight Midget and why?

Yeah that's one of my poor efforts Paul,i forget all the details other than i was still at School but there are some BMC enthusiasts on this Forum that will know all the particulars of the Midgets in Oz. I have the programme for that meeting somewhere which will have the date & engine cc of the car,the first Midgets to race at the Farm were fully imported & 1098 but as you point out Skelton's car was 1275(+?).

Edit....Wiki has the Oz 1275 Midget on sale in Jan. 1968.
