just wonder if we can compile a list of F1 driver columns that were published in various magazines and the year if possible.
1984 Warwick - Autosport
1989 Berger - On Track
1990 Warwick - Prix Edition
1993 Schumacher - Chequered Flag
there must be more, and it doesn't have to be in English magazines.

Chequered Flag also had Perry McCarthy writing a column called 'On the Kerbs', documenting the debacle that was Andrea Moda in 1992. The copy he sent through was colourful, to say the least, and gave a fascinating insight into just how terrible that team was. Chequered Flag spluttered to a halt in the mid-1990s, by which time I was no longer editor. At that point it was no longer viable to self-publish magazines against the might of the large publishing houses. It cost an arm and a leg to get into WH Smith and Menzies, and the resources were simply not available to flood the shops with bulk copies.Mark Blundell had one in Chequered flag from 1993. I remember someone broke into his hotel after Magny Cours and someone stole all his prize money, he had to borrow from Martin! whatever happend to Chequered flag?
Just recalled, prompted by a subsequent post, that Perry's column was called 'Perryscope', a carry-through from an earlier column of his in another magazine. 'Over the Kerbs' was the wonderful Russell Bulgin's column, and 'Freeloader' was John Watson, who was, by then, retired, so doesn't count as a 'driver' for the purpose of this thread.

Yes that's right, I was sure I wasn't imagining Denny's blog (though we didn't call them that back then).

I recall Martin Brundle's column (Brundle bulletin?) from his Zakspeed times, as well as Perry McCarthy's (Perryscope ?) from F3.
I can't remember in which magazine was it.

That was in Racing Car News. I used to transcribe them from tapes, and I'm sure I also did one from AJ a bit later on. I distinctly remember transcribing where he was talking about the Williams budget.

Patrick Tambay had a column in Autoweek for a few years in the mid-80's. I cannot remember who, if anyone, replaced him or if AW decided not to keep doing racer's columns.
Hello
I've tried to search about this on the internet but couldn't find anything, can anyone please provide me with more information on this? do you know if this coincided Tambay's time with the Renault team? where can i find old copies of this magazine?
thank you

Jody Scheckter, 1977-78
Keke Rosberg, 1983
Jan Lammers, 1979
Jody's and Keke's columns surely were published elsewhere in Europe too.
Niki Lauda had a column in his early days in F1, can't remember the magazine, but it was in German.
I believe Alan Jones had one published in Sport Auto or Rallye Racing (Germany) in 1980.
BTW In the Hilton-book on Hunt it was written that James used to write his columns himself, which I don''t think many other drivers did.

In Holland the following were published by Auto Visie:
Jody Scheckter, 1977-78
Keke Rosberg, 1983
Jan Lammers, 1979
Unquote
And Auto Visie translated Bruce Mc Laren too, back in 1967!

... few if any drivers offer any real insight in their written or spoken word.
They're probably all ghost-written, I doubt if many drivers have actually strung words together themselves without assistance.

I suspect it was when Patrick was with Renault and Haas Lola. Back issues may be on ebay. I haven't searched autoweek dot com if they have archives (I would not count on it, at least yet) It may be worth it to email them.

Yes, I believe the Scheckter column was also in German Sport Auto, not sure though, but Rosberg also wrote for Motorsport Aktuell that year - I recall his story about Long Beach! In Holland the following were published by Auto Visie:
Jody Scheckter, 1977-78
Keke Rosberg, 1983
Jan Lammers, 1979

Niki Lauda wrote for German Sport Auto, but I'm not sure of the years - perhaps he was in and out. 1976 and 1978 I'm pretty sure of, though.
Alan Jones was in Rallye Racing in 1980.
