Try the Dorval Hilton at the airport. Nice enough hotel, 35 minutes from track and was not booked at GP time this year.

Try the Hotel Taj Mahal. Tel: 514-849-3214 I'm booked there -- and I hear there is space. It is NOTHING fancy -- very basic, but the cost is reasonable considering the prices quoted elsewhere. (approx. $100 per night). The perfect thing about it is it's location. It is right beside the Metro (subway) -- ONLY ONE STOP from the GP

If that fails, try the Delta. (sorry, don't have a number). I was able to get a room there last year at the outrageous price of $350 per night. Yeah -- nice place, but not worth the money. I was able to book it last year in January, so you should be OK.

Good luck, and let me know how it turns out.

CDNgrl-- Thanks for the advice......unfortunatley I called both of those and they are sold out also.

MoMurray-- Last year I had to stay at the Dorval Hilton, nice hotel, but I want to be in the city this year.

It isn't looking good so far. :(

Again, I don't have a number, but maybe you can get it. Try l'apartement (on Sherbrooke Street I believe) I was next to Americans last year who got space there at the last minute. Again, nothing fancy --- but it will do the trick.

I too am in need of DOWNTOWN rooms for the race. A decent hotel, downtown or next to a subway stop would be ideal.

Last year, I stayed at the DAys-Inn Longueil. Nice rooms and price, but it was too far from a subway stop (and on the wrong side of the river) to be ideal.

Any suggestions welcome.

(We would be happy to "house-sit" for any Montreal millionaires who will be out of town race weekend)

I've stayed downtown for the past 8 years. The secret is call around July/August and call often. Cresent Street ain't cheap though...

Thanks everyone for your replies.

My friend and I have decided to get the Grand Prix Tours tour package that books us at the Hotel Gouverneur Place Dupuis. It's on the expensive side, but we really wanted to be downtown this year. Last year we stayed out in Dorval and it really limited our enjoyment of the GP Weekend. At least this way we get the Theme party and the Driver party also.

See everyone in Montreal in June!

Good choice, kevinbush. It's expensive to stay downtown, but it is worth it. I have friends, and even family, who live in the Montreal area, and they are always willing to put me up. However, they all live on the outskirts, and the place to be is downtown. I've been paying the extra money so that I can be downtown. Next year if you come back, just start booking early. You can find something for under $150 if you book early enough.

If a fancy hotel is not what you need and wish to stay downtown, try McGill University around Sherbrooke St. dorm rooms very cheap. With the nightlife in Montreal, all you need is a place to crash. I recently moved and don't have their phone number handy so try directory assistance.

Try this link:
Mtl Accomodations

It seems to give a good listing with all the info. Université de Montréal has "guest houses" which I have heard are perfect for GP visitors.

Either way, just be sure to show up at Ziggy's Pub for the 2nd Annual Atlas F1 Canadian GP Headquarters!!;)

See ya there!

Agreed, good choice Kevin. I used GP Tours for Indy from Cini last year (next year too, though we are going to arrange it so we can go up to Indy on Friday) and it worked out well. The bit extra we payed was worth it to make things low stress and enjoyable. I'm pretty sure at this point we are even going to book w/ them for Canada too. What seats were you able to get? If you really want to feel like you got your monies worth; be sure to punish them at the parties (at least the one we had in Cinci had a hosted bar; which is more than I expected)

I was able to get either Silver 12 or 11, can't remember which.

Last year I had Gold 2, but this year wanted a different view.

That's what I was thinking 11 or 12. But a view of the pits/start G1,2,3 would be interesting too as I was sitting out in the SE Vista at Indy.

placestostay.com has lots of Montreal listings.

I know that this may be a bit early but would anyone care to swap seats for practice or qualifying? I chose to keep my Grandstand 15 seats again this year but it would be nice to get another perspective.

Bidemdun, you've got a deal if the # of seats works out.
I have 3 seats in GS 12 hi sec #'s that I'd be willing to swap for Sat. I swapped with someone in GS 24 last year. It's a great way to see different parts of the track.

Wheels, I have 2 seats in GS15. Keep me in mind if you don't find someone with 3 seats to trade (or if one of your group doesn't care to move).

We're booked and ready to go now. See you at the Gouverneur Place Dupuis Kevin. 2 in Silver 11. For those who have been to Canada I take it they are pretty strict i.e. checking tickets at the grandstand. Do you get three separate tickets; one for each day? I would consider switching too (15 hairpin or 24 would be temping). I'm sure there will be a thread as we get closer "who's going". Let's all talk more as we get closer.

F1Rulz - Yes you get a seperate ticket for each day (3 total) and YES they are VERY STRICT on checking grandstand tickets at the grandstand itself at Montreal.

Last year I helped someone get a room at the Hotel Maritime Plaza in late May without any problem. Good location, not too expensive, just ignore the butt ugly mural on the side!

Also, a great place is the Auberge Alternative on rue St. Pierre in Old Montreal. Its basically a well run hostel with some private rooms, at about $30 per person. Great deal great location. The Days Inn on rue Guy might be available too.

Loads of hotels in Montreal, I can't believe you are having trouble booking already!

If anyone has any questions, I am a Montrealer and will try and help you out.

Sorry Andy, it's called the Chateau Bogman, and it happens to be fully booked !!!!! :) :) But, space on the floor can be had for a mere 6 cases of Boreale Rousse.
