What on earth prompted both to move onto different teams? Considering Brawn's success last season I should think both might want to stock around.

I know the move is old, but I simply woke up one day and both were driving for other teams...I was shocked.

Be nice, i'm old :rotfl:

It seemed Rubens was not given the choice. But had Ross known Button was on his way out you could count on him keeping Rubens but Rubens had already gone.

Do you really think the racing World could go through another "poor Rubens number 2 to MS" again?

Well Rubens is the No.1 this year, so let us wait and see. Appearently the team was just checking up systems today.

Well if you remember Barcelona last year, and add Schumacher to the mix, it might have been pretty entertaining.

Nico would have been the driver ;-)!

If either Rubens or Button stayed I cant see why Schumacher would be called back?

Ross had the space Button left so rang Schumacher.

Nico Rosberg confirmed, he signed for Brawn team, NOT Mercedes, which leads me to think the deal was done a while ago, at which point they told Rubens to look elsewhere and expected Button to re-sign.

Rubens I'm sure wanted to stick around, but wasn't given the choice. Brawn screwed up the negotiations with Button, probably on the assumption that there was nowhere else for him to go.

Who said you can't change a winning team ;)

That's true, BrawnGP, the phenomena, was completely dismantled

But the team should be stronger:
The 2010 car should be better than the 2009.
MS > RB
NR < JB

Apparently, Haug contacted Schu in the summer 09.

So I guess this was the Mercedes masterplan from the beginning, I don't buy that because Button left they called Schumacher and the "neck" was ok again.

Yes, I was apparently sleeping...a bottle of Brunello was to blame...

But the outcome is somewhat sobering to me...not that the surface is apparent, but that so many odd 'things' aligned to make things so.

Do Rubens and Ross get on well together or is it begrudging respect for one another?
